30 jahre nachdem sie ihre eigenen musikalischen wege eingeschlagen hatten, tun sich die beiden elektronischen musikpioniere vince clarke (erasure, yazoo, depeche mode) und martin l.gore (depeche mode) zum ersten mal seit 1981 wieder zusammen und veröffentlichen unter dem namen vcmg ein album und eine reihe von eps. vcmg ist das resultat einer halbjährigen auseinandersetzung mit ihrer gemeinsamen leidenschaft für techno und eine äußerst enthusiastische zusammenarbeit. das bisher noch unbetitelte album wurde von vince clarke und martin l.gore produziert und von dem kalifornischen produzenten Überzone/q abgemischt. es erscheint am frühjahr 2012 bei mute. die erste auskopplung ist die ep spock, die neben dem albumtrack auch remixe folgender künstler enthält: edit-select, aka tony scott. englischer dj und gründer von edit select records, der schon remixe für speedy j., death in vegas und gary beck gemacht hat. regis aka karl o connor. mitglied des sandwell district-kollektivs und mitbegründer von downwards records. xoq ist das alter ego von Überzone / q, der das vcmg album abgemischt hat.

after one listen justin thought the track was genius but needed some additional editing and arrangement work. he took on the project and the outcome was >mr. spock<. this dancefloor monster was instantly charted #1 by myself and jesse rose as soon as we heard it. it works. for real.

nach den heissen veröffentlichungen der ep1 / spock und ep2 / single blip nun die dritte singleauskopplung (ep3 , aftermath). die remixe auf ep3/aftermaths stammen von der berühmten englischen edm-formation lfo (warp) und vom mitgründer des legendären raster noton labels alva noto!

it marks the long awaited reunion of electronic pioneers vince clarke (erasure/ yazoo/ depeche mode) and martin l. gore (depeche mode), who have joined forces for the first time in over thirty years to craft an album which, demonstrating their mutual love of electronic music. after initial tentative discussions, and a meeting at short circuit presents mute festival in london, where they both performed, these two influential musicians and songwriters, began work on the 10-track album, working in a typically unique way with the pair working alone in their respective studios, communication only via email, exchanging files until the albums was ready. the album includes the recent 12inch ep1 / spock, described by the quietus as one of the best tracks of 2011, plus the forthcoming ep 2 / single blip. the album was produced by vince clarke and martin l. gore and mixed by the influential californian electronic artist Überzone / q.
comes as double 12 inch in full artwork gatefold cover, including cd-version of this album.

nach der heiss erwarteten veröffentlichung >ep1 / spock< veröffentlicht mute nun die zweite single-auskopplung >ep2 / single blip<. eine bedrohlich-pumpende bassline durchzieht diesen von dunklen, filterigen synthies dominierten und mit rhythmischen bleeps gefütterten minimal-industrial techno track. neben der treibenden originalversion finden sich noch zwei hochwertige remixe von byetone und mathew jonson auf der b-seite. olaf bender (byetone), einer der gründer des legendären experimental-elektronik labels raster-noton veröffentlichte 2011 sein hochgelobtes album >symeta< welches unter anderen in den jahresbestenlisten von fact & the quietus auftauchte. der kanadier mathew jonson wiederum machte sich in der szene neben seinem gehypten impro-projekt cobblestone jazz und veröffentlichungen auf seinem eigenen label wagon repair unter anderem mit remixen für plastikman, moby und den chemical brothers einen namen. die ep wurde wie auch das album von stefan betke (pole) gemastered und von timothy q wiles gemixt

how do you follow-up last years monster mr.spock? of course with something even more ghetto, more dirty and more fun. lezgo is the 2nd collaboration between justin martin and ardalan, a curious bay area duo of master and apprentice that seems to be magic in the studio. this time they delve deep into the footwork meets house sound delivering cool r&b respites inside mega booty grooves for 3 minutes then letting down the hammer on the kick drum in the finale that kills every time. this is the type of tune that gets everyone moving and smiling and makes you wish you had 10 of them just like it in your bag. i ve played this to every type of crowd from techno chin scratchers to college kids, festival crowds, london know-it-alls, fund raising 40+ year olds, deep house heads, post dubsteppers, basement afterpartiers, hip-hop crews, disco kids and straight up ravers. it works everywhere and thats the sign of a big tune.
