bristol’s finest reggae producer meets doncaster’s number one dancehall mc as mr benn & parly b join forces for an ep chock full of vibes. first up -gwarn go bathe- is a cautionary tale of lacking personal hygene in the dance underpinned by a bubbling dancehall riddim. -heat up- is much of the same as things get hotter, whilst -session cork- slows things down a little with some more laid back vibes. despite working on various remixes together, this is the first time mr benn and parly b have worked in a combination - hopefully the first of many more to come!

after being named the ‘best breakthrough label’ of 2017 by dj mag and following on from the ‘techno disco tools ep’, warehouse music launches into 2018 presenting a three track ep, this time under aitchison’s given name ‘ryan aitchison’. this new project gives the more experimental, darker sounds he is producing an identity.

after kicking off 2016 with the massive don t need ep from callahan featuring that remix from man of-the-moment hodge, dext is back with another banger of an ep from fast rising uk producer mella dee. the man from doncaster, uk has been creating a name for himself on the scene of late with releases on redlight s lobster boy and shy fx s digital soundboy imprint, and his dext debut certainly doesn t disappoint. over the last year or so, he has been masterfully fusing 90 s jungle influences with driving house & techno percussion and his ep for us is, we think, his strongest work to date.

in addition to his work as one half of mista men, london via doncaster producer ryan aitchison has been making solo moves under his mella dee guise these past few years with appearances in all the right places (think wolf music, shabby doll and sccucci manucci).

if there is one thing in this world that is certain, it is that things change. and in the life of one dance producer with a new release on sheffields shabby doll, there have been transitions aplenty. with a switch from garage to house, a move from doncaster to london, and a change of identity from ryan aitchison to mella dee, his spacious four- to-the-floor sound has emerged from a state of constant flux. and yet… the more things change, the more they stay the same. *things dont change* is the name of mella dees new shabby doll ep, and when you tune into the title tracks compulsive twitch, you can hear the echo of his south yorkshire antecedents coming through.
