powder is an up-and-coming producer from tokyo who had put out only a couple of releases on born free and esp institute when resident advisor featured her on the monthly series breaking through this past august. inspired by her first visit to cocktail d amore in 2015, she was so enthralled by the atmosphere, she started working on an ep for the label capturing her experiences from the party. the way powder interprets sound is extremely personal and unique. the opener hip has a driving sensual groove with hints of acid, seasoned with a good amount of loons and a mysterious foggy melody while heart sounds like an italo disco aural translation of a shojo manga script for a fun in the sun tinged story. on the flip side a slowmo industrial-meets-rainforest groove characterizes hole followed by hair in which she blends many layers of rhythm patterns together.

illusory house and techno from new york native image man, following up a release on crucial newcomer label sunal/perabob with another four-track 12” of windy, paradoxical tracks built from samples and drum machine. “glance” shifts further into a weirded out but druggily decadent realm where he’s found looping the reflections of disco, soul and ancient pop samples into his own spaced and primitive euphorias, starting out with the slowmo downbeat of “more” before the more apprehensive rhythms of “else” end up filtering out into a pool of a reverberant samples that echoes out the second half. from the image man himself: “we trust in the sound we take for granted—the music wouldn t lead us astray, would it? emotions can lead us astray, the wanting to feel, the wishing of forever lasting, the pleading for change, the expectation of ecstasy. just a quick glance in the mirror.”

antoni maiovvis career began with a quite frankly amazing lie. in reality maiovvi is not an original italo producer from the 1980s come back to reclaim his crown, but a project started at the end of 2006 by composer anton maiof to explore a world made of synth pop, hi-nrg and horror soundtracks. the cry of >lets dance! lets kill!< somehow struck a chord among the followers of the new cosmic disco movement and has lead to a prolific discography. he is producer, dj, film composer and co-owner of giallo disco records. musically, maiovvi takes as many cues from john carpenter and goblin as he does from italian electro and san francisco hi-nrg right through experimental electronics and krautrock. in short antoni maiovvi makes epic horror disco. he follows his releases on deathwaltz, jam traxx and his own co-run giallo disco records with a journey into the furthest reaches of deep space with >monoceroticism< on flight recorder. four tracks inflected with slowmo detroit jams, new beat trash, spooktactual ebm and hyperborean prog

summer release for apersonal music comes with the debut of james teej on the barcelona-based imprint. teej, a canadian fine style producer who has been gaining attention in the scene for his complex and personal productions, releasing on labels as rekids, my favorite robot, rebirth, and recently under the aka of the king arms on wolf+lamb. teej now amazes us once more with 2 high caliber bombs for the season, >fame< and >city celebrity<, long and elaborated disco-tech tracks that wont let down his fans nor the audience looking for strong and complex slowmo nudisco & tech-house music. completing the release with the remix from cisco cisco (labels usuals) to >fame< with a sound stronger and more aggressive than what we are used to the portuguese duo, but with out loosing their dreamy-disco characteristic sound

it would be a complete mistake for any house imprint not to include a us talent in his catalog, this wont be the case for apersonal music. on its third effort the label takes his first journey to the grounds of american house. from arizona, michael j collins with remix rework from bostons house-sons soul clap, plus the first collaboration for apersonal from maurice aymard. a side single nothing wrong with holding on show us the most eclectic side of the label so far. looped vocals, broken house with a saxo on top. michaels talent goes beyond genres mixing elements from different styles to create this great piece of music. soul clap delivers, as usual, top stuff! in their remix they speed up the bpm and add a hip-breaker bassline taking the original track to the dancefloor war zone. second remix from maurice aymard, himself at the controls plus venezuelan producer garnica hitting the drums, they take the track to a trippy slowmo version, what maurices catalogs as his best remix so far.
