rhys celeste aka microlith passed away 26th february. 24 years old.

after his debut ep hello 307 and critically acclaimed follow up lp dance with me we find microlith, aka rhys celeste, pushing his sound ever forward. celeste takes his sublime musical ability and electro funk influence to produce a compelling soundscape. a vast army of analogue synths can be heard on every track which will catch the ears of afx fans as he effortlessly manipulates them into beautiful, highly detailed compositions. this ep occupies a corner of electro seldom trod, and with it celeste galvanises his lofty position in the new wave of braindance. rip rhys, our deepest condolences go out to your family and friends

the eagerly awaited full length album from microlith aka rhys celeste lands on cpu. following his critically acclaimed debut e.p. hello 307, the maltese artist returns and makes his vintage synths dance to his signature - soulful, laidback braindance. each track is brimming with warm analogue melodies, sounds reminiscent of early detroit / chicago techno and rhys s expressive musicality. all four tracks on the vinyl e.p. are taken from the l.p. dance with me

spacey detroit-inspired electro from new maltese producer microlith, aka rhys celeste. brought to the labels attention by the mighty dave monolith, they were instantly hooked. microlith sits well among the likes of b12, plaid and afx (analord era), but with a strong electro rhythm preference rather than the aforementioned artists 4/4 techno. rhys admits to being heavily influenced by 90’s techno

following their 50th release milestone cpu celebrate 5th anniversary with a 2x12- lp remix compilation. cpu has been reticent in regards to remixes, with a grand total of zero during its first five years of existence. this all changes with this dedicated remix compilation celebrating the label s 5th anniversary. the exalted roster have chosen their favourite tracks to remix from the label s back catalogue and are brought together in a very special 2x12- gatefold sleeve. b12, jensen interceptor and morphology all make an appearance alongside some of the label s seldom seen artists. there is also a posthumous microlith remix of tryphème - mélodramatique. electro has again proven its staying power and cpu has played a key role in championing some of the genre s greatest: bringing new artists to the front line and cementing the status of the established. this five year celebration showcases the diverse tastes and backgrounds of the roster, crossing many genre boundaries - all executed with precision and attention to detail that the label is known for.
