for fifteen years traveling in the world of electronic music, this dj & producer has established itself as one of the most emblematic of the techno scene. he remarkably incarnates the freshness of those young artists who know how to sum up a decade of electronic culture, adding their own strength, skills and personal touch to it. the energy of his songs is also appreciated by the names of the techno world, from boys noize to laurent garnier. the latter moreover honored him by playing the key title of this ep at the time warp festival: excelsior, which had so already intrigued the internet users through a video extract of the festival. madben as for him encloses this opus with a sober and powerful remix.

>transist< is the closing track from corrugated tunnels critically-acclaimed third album >minor obsessions<, released on process recordings late last year. it will now be released as the third single from the album, with remixes by two prominent irish dj/producers.
first up is minimise label founder and owner donnacha costello, delivering a completely reworked track that transcends genres from techno to deep house. chymera, who has been very prolific in 2010 with releases on prestigious labels such as cocoon and connaisseur, stays closer to the original but moves it more into dancefloor territory.

as you may already know about it, the artist costello (who is living in bordeaux at the moment) is releasing his first ep on boxon records. costello, 23 years old dj/producer, already appeared in international labels (plasmapool, party like us, big fish recordings, dust traxx chicago) and made remixes of artists such as missil, dilemn, stereoheroes, udachi or gooseflesh. thanks to his insane shows, his youth influenced by a good dose of strength and technique, and his electro 90s sounding break, rock or hip-hop, he managed to make a name.

there are few artists these days who consistently succeed to focus their passions, talents and instincts into deliciously individual, melancholic, beautiful and timeless recordings. irish born donnacha costello is amongst the highest ranks of such artists. poker flat is proud to announce donnacha costellos new full length album, >before we say goodbye<. echoes of chicago house, detroit techno, and uk ambient techno flow through its futuristic core, as we find donnacha exploring further his love for deep, hypnotising grooves, rich synth themes and emotive harmonies. this vinyl version features four cuts taken from the long-player.

after recent successes on his other label, donnacha costello returns to his look long imprint with the storming one sided monster that is ten thousand hours. to begin, an ominous, growling, analog siren calls out from costellos roland sh-101, alerting us that our presence is required on the dancefloor before rattling, shuffling hi-hats mark out the groove and we head out on an ecstatic 7 minute analogue journey through a universe inhabited by wispy shadows of s-express, 808 state, mathew jonson and costellos own classic colorseries sound. words dont do justice to this one. simply drop the needle on the record and escape to an alternate universe on a magic carpet of analog synths and drum machines. ten thousand hours appears as a very limited one sided vinyl edition and wont be re-pressed. dont sleep

as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.

donnacha costello returns with another release for his new label and platform, look long. the tragedy of the commons sees him continuing his mission to create work of lasting quality and beauty. gatsby has that most rare and ephemeral quality, that certain something not easily defined. work which is at once both raw and full of subtlety. something which is at once both instantly familiar and yet inescapably new. fathoms deep pulls the listener in with each rotation until we are so thoroughly hypnotised we cannot but surrender to its insistent, organic pulse. baritoneÆs melancholy lo-fi guitars and roland 606 drums wrap around us like a warm blanket on a cold night. a private oasis, a moment of comfort in a lonely city before the body gives in to sleep. this is no throwaway music. this is music to keep, to live with, to grow with. this is music in which comfort can be sought and solace found
