following on from casino times debut album familiar circles, wolf music enlist al zanders & moomin to remix their favourite cuts from the album. al zanders delivers a classy deep house version of carlotta while moomin throws a curveball with a drum n bass remix reminiscent of a classic ltj bukem track from the mid 90 s.

every tune of the 12- is deeply inspired by the origins of the mid 90s melodic jungle & d n b movement, namely by the greats of that era: peshay, source direct, ltj bukem and photek. ray & karl have worked together on a number of projects over the last year, the most recent one being a split 12- on the other planet of lyon. while ray has been connected to the lo-fi house scene and acts like baltra, dj boring and dj seinfeld, karl has been more low-key, producing music that s relaxed and organic, mainly inspired by naature and the musical movement around frits wentink and max graef. for this release they worked closely together, decided to stray off their usual paths and combined their different styles to form a well-rounded record.

the release opens with brian s proper dun one , a track which caused a twitter meltdown on alan s profile when he first started playing it at the tail end of 2016. loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is an ethereal experience from start to finish and packs a real punch. it s a no holds barred, certified main room anthem. wait a second feat. mc r1bbz has been a staple of adam beyer s sets of late and has been getting a lot of air time on drumcode radio. this rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a real killer blow. alan sampled the vocals of mc r1bbz from an ltj bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the m25. the release closes with trance, init? , a homage to alan s days first and foremost as a raver before he became a dj, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through. the breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.

coming out of the audio plants fraternity, ukranian drum & bass artist pageant brings a bright and breezy musicality to the scene on this expansive debut album. the beats come through clear and punchy while the instrumentation takes its lead from ltj bukem s smoother moments to results in a very palatable kind of liquid drum & bass. this is as feel good as the genre can get, and with its wide scope for natural and synthetic sound sources it never tires on the ears. whether it s the soaring vocal of elena aki on space song or the expressive guitar trills on taxi driver, there s always something catchy to draw your ear in to pageant s smooth as silk soundworld.

the man like octo octa: best known for his still devastating let me see you cut for 100% silk, the brooklyn producer graces running back with four fine cuts. creating the new, while respecting the old, the more times ep features heavy house (more times), twitchy house (fever dream), dubby house (take me to the dark) and breakbeat house with due respect to ltj bukem (dresses). thats a lot of house for your money. music for clubs and places that would like to be clubs. watch out for octo octa on the back of the brilliant cover.
