PARALEXIA
12 Inch 17.06.10
summer is on the horizon, peeps. its time to pump up those sounds. so open your box as sexonwax returns to the source. staying true to our name, our essence. presenting special vinyl ep for your aural excitement only. first up is the massive toon of four-track goodness, paralexia. feel our groove. really, what could be sexier? despite the name there can be no misapprehension of whats going on here. the patterns of omids paralexia see fractal flurries of melody sprinkled with insane piano tinkles. these ivories are driven upwards by solid synth gold and old skool drum builds. with a whirling breakdown that feels like a waterfall crashing over your head. it all adds up to a proper prolonged derangement of the senses. so much so that the party people of miami went ballistic when it was promod by sos during their set at dj mags pool party. check the link. show us yer shimmy! cos bites without teeth is more of a builder, folks. and if the beats dont grab n shake you in their grimy grip, then the wonky bass will. claps like a funker. phases like a wrong ‘un. builds like a bastardo. its food for thought… a bonus here from sexonwaxs popular april release in the form of lilly and poppy. except this time mr o brings a vinyl dub to the table: a reliable beauty with a dramatic and yet delicate bouquet >du jour<. in fact, its almost as epic as >the epic<! so there you go, guys. paralexia is a real package. boasting more beef than argentina, more heat than technotonics and more eruptions than iceland. all of em sure-fire floor shakers with an ultra-modern/vintage sound, best served with sunshine and a smile. feeeel the difference.

CANA MORAL
12 Inch 21.09.09
our favorite frankfurters miguel and arno are back with more frolicking, funky and fired up house. the boys have kept busy since their last release on kindisch, out with a bang, (which for a period was heard every weekend in clubs across europe) remixing for labels such as arearemote, below and murmur. oh, and we almost forgot to mention nurturing their label la peña, whose success can be contributed to their no nonsense attitude to releasing only merit worthy house. welcome back kindischs native sons, as they take you an inebriated four-track voyage of the utmost magnitude of rump-jiggling beats. >caña moral< contains all the things that we have grown to love einzelkind for: warm and crunchy beats and a perfected groove all following the chants of tribal vocals. this one might be a tad more pristine than what they have been known to release on their own label, but it does give proof of their ability to construct tightly woven modern beats

REPTILES IN EXILE
12 Inch 06.07.09
played by karotte, giles smith (secretsundaze), laurent garnier... already up to its 17th release, yore keeps rolling on, this time with a new release by memory foundation. in 1994 robert hood found his way into a dark basement somewhere in viennas suburbia. mr. hood was impressed by what he had heard, and with him a dat-tape took a long journey back to where techno was invented once. with their first appearance on detroits m-plant label 15 years ago, the memory foundation or one of their many alter egos found its way into the hearts and the record-bags of many serious electronic music lovers. in 1997, after setting up their own record labels central and together with jeremiah grow! and other releases on m-plant, 7th city or usm followed. the memory foundation now returns with their contribution for the yore camp, with their >reptiles in exile ep< they prove that they havent lost their magic touch. the track burns with electro-funk fire, with natural kit and cymbal sounds giving the already-surging cut extra thrust and the staccato burble of metallic chords adding berlin flavour. a lithe eight-note bass motif anchors the warm techno-funk of >bass traveller< as a flaring synth motif squiggles alongside rhodes chords and a boogieing clavinet line, and its easy to become so engrossed by the tunes relaxed swing that the artistry of its arrangement can go underappreciated. textbook body music, >summer visions< is an earthier, mid-tempo funk workout thats sure to get the dance floor crowded, while the light-speed closer >reptiles< blazes a slinky house trail whose fresh swing has got yore written all over it. with any luck, we wont be waiting twelve more years for the next memory foundation release

LEFTOVERS EP
12 Inch 29.06.09
played by brothers vibe , gerd janson (running back)... introducing two brand new lindstrom tracks: the magnificent and disturbing the perfect symmetry the leftover ep came about when prins thomas, todd terje and smalltown supersound were let into the lindstrom vaults so to speak. lindstrom makes a lot of music obviously (he has one album out this year already with prins thomas and another one with christabelle coming in october), and these were two tracks just laying around that he hadnt thought about releasing. when both prins thomas, todd terje and his label insisted that the tracks had to be released, he decided it was maybe a good idea to make another 12inch since it had actually been a while since the last one. and we are all happy by that. these are some of his finest moments. his signature melodies and sound are all here ready set dancefloors on fire. hope you like them as much as we do. enjoy!

KID WE OWN THE SUMMER (CD)
CD 06.02.17
the record cover shows a woman walking towards dusk - or is it dawn. two years after the success of night moves, a wander through a threatening nocturnal los angeles, h burns returns with a new record for twilight. kid we own the summer finds its identity between a few landmarks such as david lynch and angelo badalamentis california, the intimacy of bruce springsteens darkness on the edge of town, the relative calmness of suicideÕs second album, and the elegant melancholy of the national. in order to compose, renaud brustlein aka h burns decided to reinvent himself once again. he didnt repeat the live configuration that he used in 2013 with off the map, an electric storm recorded in chicago, with a band, in a single week, with the legendary steve albini. for kid we own the summer, the composer started working in his home studio, by gradual touches, because thereÕs no place like home. the result? a melancholy cinematic stroll across stories of misguided couples, unspoken words that end-up ruining peoples lives, the pursuit of dangerous situations, like an elegy to the end of adolescence - leading to a place were unsure of. born from a keyboard, a piano and a beatbox, these ten songs were brought to light, as always with infinite delicacy, by impeccable guests-friends strings by bertrand belin and vaporous keyboards by denis clavaizolle (bashung, murat, daniel darc) mixed by rob schnapf (elliot smith, beck) and mastered by the great greg calbi (springsteen, dylan, paul simon). noisey said of night moves that it was the perfect record for all the cold and sad months to come

SELF HELP FOR BEGINNERS (CD)
CD 04.08.11
you can forgive a band who set out to create something even just a little bit different and get it horrendously wrong, but its tough to have sympathy for a band who shy away from the challenge altogether. such was the case with autokratz on their first album, animal, which, apart from a passable opening track, consisted of a series of bland electronic pastiches Ð dance music that conversely made the listener want to sit and wait it out. that didnt stop the hype building around the duo, though, thanks in no small part to the fact that the album was released through in-vogue french label kitsunŽ music. the confusing positivity surrounding the lp suggesting, perhaps, that style overcomes substance once a record company has received the hipster seal of approval.this time around, however, kitsune has stepped aside, with autokratz releasing the follow-up on their own label, bad life. but has the sense of responsibility that surely comes with this step made them re-evaluate their direction? has it inspired them to inject a much-needed shot of creativity into their work? not a hope. if anything, autokratz descend even further into mediocrity on self help for beginners. once again, their best tunes are loaded towards the front of the album, starting with the lead single, -opposite of love. its far from outstanding, helped in no small part by the terribly contrived lyrics, but does possess a catchy synth melody Ð enough to earn it a place on club playlists, at least. its a similar story with -becoming the wraith, which has peter hook on hand to deliver an overtly new order-esque bassline. beyond that, however, the quality dips dramatically. tracks like -the seventh seal and -r.i.s.e. are typical of the selection on offer, underwhelmingly vapid, derivative tunes which show up a disappointing, but not totally unexpected, scarcity of guile on the part of their creators.where autokratz do excel is as producers Ð a quality evident not only in their own work, but also in their remixes for other artists. unfortunately, this only serves to exacerbate their deficiencies on the other side of the control room desk. ultimately it may mean that, having failed to address the shortcomings of their debut, autokratz will be fated to be filed under -also rans in the annals of music history. thats assuming, of course, that someone out there will actually remember them at all.
