das erste tm404-album war ein stark selbstbeschränktes konzeptalbum, das live mit klassischen roland-maschinen aufgenommen wurde. das nachfolgende album hatte eine verspieltere atmosphäre, geprägt von tillianders umfangreicher live-tour. dieses dritte tm404-album auf kontra-musik erzählt einfach die geschichte dessen, was er seitdem gemacht hat.

tm404 & echologist (aka andreas tilliander and brendon moeller) return with their second collaboration, this time including a remix from another standout dub techno artist in vril. the infiltrated ep has two boomy, 4x4 rollers on the a-side, vrils broken-beat, ethereal version on the b1 and lastly the title-track, a twisted stream of grainy modulations.

two of the leading artists in dub techno and ambient electronics produced four cuts between their extensive studios in new york and stockholm, with the results sitting in between the powerful oscillations of echologists previous ep for kynant (kyn005) and the slo-mo, roland jams tm404 specialises in.

andreas tilliander returns to kontra-musik in a grand style with his second tm404 album. titled acidub , this highly anticipated release is much more of an evolution than a repetition of the first superbly self-restricted album, where tilliander even decided to use only one of the two roland tb-303 waveforms. acidub is a more playful and open listening experience, no doubt inspired by his extensive live touring with the tm404 concept. in fact, you can almost hear tilliander s flock of acid machines breaking free from the restrained modus operandi. every sound is like a migratory bird with a heart yearning for high altitude and favourable winds.

the track 303/303/303/606/606 is heavy, slow grooving techno that brings the listener back to the dark emptiness of the plastikman consumed era. on the b-side the tm404 project is allowed elevated to new levels. with a yamaha sy-1 and a yamaha tg33 entering the machine park, tm404 for the first time, breaks his roland oath and opens up the project to a future of new po ssibilit ies. during the development of the svans ep this track actually went under the working title the summer hit. take a listen to the fine bassline, airy production and the selected ambient works-inspired harmonies and sounds and you will know why. welcome to over 12 minutes of pure old school bliss.

with a new alias, tm404, andreas tilliander has created enjoyable ambient dub simmering with life and details. the songs have all been recorded live, in real time in the studio.

tm404 is a new concept from analogue mastermind andreas tilliander aka mokira (kontra-musik, raster-noton, type). tm404 uses a multiple set up of the classic roland machines tb-303, tb-606 and mc-202 to create a mesmerizing acidic techno-drone. tm404 will release a full-length album on kontra-musik in late january and we are very much looking forward. but before that we have another great release to present. kontra-musik 028 is by far our most radical release on so far. this is dance music really pushed the limit. what you are about to hear is the result of morphosis (morphine records) remixing tm404 using his favorite korg machines – the ms20 and the sq10. rabihs own words on the music: quite challenging and not really ordinary dance music. i believe in moving forward with things, with whatever chances and possibilities i have, it is my contribution to this world.
