the second album from bombers, penned by pat deserio (kebekelektrik / rational youth) and george lagios. more accomplished than its predecessor, the self titled >bombers< lp, 2 takes their sound further and produced their major hit>(everybody) get dancin<. stepping away from danceable boogie instrumentals, and putting more emphasis on upfront vocal dance workouts there are a number of highlights including >lets dance<, >shake< and >pistolero<.
ALL NIGHT LONG: NORTHERN SOUL FLOOR FILLERS (2X12)
2x12 Inch LP 15.09.17
whilst not the first uk dance scene the mods had that covered – northern soul is the longest running. those northern clubbers who eschewed late 60s psychedelic fripperies for obscure old soul records with the requisite beat, couldnt have known what they started. after using up all the uk released sides they began digging in the united states and after nearly 50 years the northern soul scene has probably unearthed more great music than any other. all night long is our tribute to those pioneers and includes current in-demanders such as the sensations demanding man, classics by the chandlers and ernest mosley and a host of other dancefloor friendly masterpieces. all night long, can you feel that beat and extra added soul will be available on cd & double vinyl and are compiled by dj and award winning compiler dean rudland, with stunning artwork from his long-time collaborators the unknown. across the three volumes there are 60 tracks of soul, funk and boogie.
west end kicks off its new series of disco boogie essentials. 4 dancefloor killers from boogies golden age. volume 1 sees debbie trustys searchin for some lovin, bombers lets dance, ednah holts serious, sirius space party and the twisted dub mix of stone s girl i like the way you move.
with the back catalogue burned to cinders and the last few dog eared copies at freerange hq looking more than a little shabby, heres your opportunity to grab some of the labels highlights on the blackstuff. the complete boxsets have all gone now but you can still buy the box with part one and add the individual releases.
limited to 250 copies !!! on august 4th 2011, the sony music warehouse in enfield, north london was attacked during riots and looting that affected many areas of the capitol over the course of a week. the warehouse burned down completely, taking with it millions of cds and vinyl stored by the distributor pias including the back catalogue of freerange. the blow was devastating for many labels, with the logistics of manufacture and minimal insurance payouts meaning that recreating the entirety of their old stock was completely impossible and many releases have been lost forever as a result.
