we have the pleasure to present one of the most awaited album this year!ladies and gentelmen - switch technique - altered. after more than a decade with handfuls of releases and hundreds of hours spent on perfecting his standout sound there has come a time for his fascination of hardcore to take him to a whole new level of music production. switch technique has created a new unique and completely fresh production standard defined by combination hardcore and drumandbass. simultaneously, hes pushing his ideas of regular drumandbass which he loves to interpret and translate into hard oriented techstep and darkstep.

2011 release, the follow up to 2010s successful first volume of bangs & works. the carefully curated compilation showcases chicago footwork, one of the most forward-looking, innovative new styles of electronic music on the planet. footwork is beginning to spread outside of chicago, influencing productions around the world. bangs & works vol. 2 brings the focus back onto chicagos own producers, showing where the real innovation still lies. while its predecessor sticks mainly to the more hallucinatory and left-field elements, this one has a wider remit, ranging from mad techno-style tracks to those that sound like musique concrete gone footwork.

rounding out the 12-part madlib medicine show series, madlib flips the format with raw medicine: madlib remixes - part mixtape, part beat tape, featuring a host of un-suspecting collaborators that run the gamut from thugs, street poets, star emcees and underdogs. we ain t naming names. the show runs 60 minute with 30+ tracks.

>patio de juegos<, which translates as >playground<, is a wonderful multi-genre journey through the mind of an artist who is both on top of his game, and on the rise towards the stars. lashings of his ever-present south american heritage infuse with incredibly intricate and perfectly simple house structures that give the whole album its almost >child at play< ethos that is rarely found in electronic music. future club hits such as >wanna be<, with its nod to the historical upbeat lineage of house music, and >all the girls<, with its chugging rhythm, trickling piano loops and erotic vocals sit effortlessly alongside more experimental and jazz inspired tracks such as the explorative >still here<. another fine example is >sun<, with its deep bass line punctuated with the sun-soaked synths and summer high-hats that export listeners away to a warm utopia. guti produces a number of tracks with high profile artists from both within and outside the dj fraternity - a sign of his increasing popularity within electronica, and also his innate ability to collaborate with more mainstream artists.

boys and diamonds is unmistakably a pop album but also one that comfortably fits in with kompakts long-standing lineage of genre-refracting releases. you will be hard up find another record that cohesively brings to mind siouxsie rubbing elbows with shabba ranks, giorgio moroder sipping daiquiris in bali, desmond dekker envisioned through skittering footwork, tom tom club sitting in with congotronics, even early madonna produced by chris and cosey. unlikely as all of that sounds, rainbow arabia makes it sound easy. mostly recorded at their home studio in echo park, muppet palace, boys and diamonds was written and produced by the couple with help from their friends in los angeles and beyond. drummer/producer extraordinaire butchy fuego (pit er pat, boredoms, mia) contributes arrangements and beats in places, and icy demons dylan ryan plays on the percussion-heavy island shuffle nothin gonna be undone . the album was mixed at the wonderful hobby shop studios in la by mudrock, who also adds some final production touches on the record. the 11 new songs on the album, were also made possible by the encouragement of peers/heroes in la like former ghosts, fool s gold, secret circuit, abe vigoda, and part time punks dj crew. outside of their hometown, they also found support and inspiration from kindred spirits like pictureplane, spoek mathambo, as well as their new home, the ever-illustrious kompakt
