die -freak ep- ist nicht nur das ergebnis der letzten monate in berlin, es markiert auch den wechsel nach ibiza, wo ellen die warme jahreszeit nutzt, um unter anderem im dc 10 ihren positiven vibe zu versprühen. -butterfly- macht den anfang und setzt nicht nur anmutige 808-nadelstiche, mit der verträumten melodie im hintergrund entsteht eine sehnsüchtige aura, die ellens warme seite offenbart. gerade das bass-grollen betont auf imposante weise die physische verve ihrer musik – kurz: pure liebe. -come to me- ist begierde und leidenschaft in siebeneinhalb minuten. zusätzlich zum deepen grundgerüst drängen sich groovy beats, die eine hypnotische beschwörungsformel freisetzen. willenlose dancefloor-magie, die mit dem eindringlichen rave-signal, schwebenden roland-synths und sh101-raveline die zeit zurückspult. mit dem titeltrack -freak the night away- ist ellen einmal mehr eine hymne gelungen, die sowohl die devise jeder großartigen nacht als auch die atmosphäre ihrer energetischen dj-sets verkörpert. auch hier hören wir erneut ellens stimme – verrückt, verspielt, kreativ. immer nach dem motto: einfach go! mit scheppernden claps und einem warmen bass wird das tanzen nicht nur zum zwang, der track geht mit seinen 303-acid-andeutungen sowie roland piano-sounds eindeutig unter die haut und öffnet die pforten in eine andere dimension.

die in seattle geborene camea gehört spaetestens seit ihrer city watch over me ep zu den aufstrebenden künstlern von bpitch control. nach ihrem dub-electronica-beitrag love on the balcony fuer die where the wind blows-compilation untermauerte die letztjaehrige neverwhere ep eindrucksvoll ihr gespuer für raumfuellende grooves und formvollendete melodien. nun erscheinen mit der remix edition von neverwhere vier neuinterpretationen, die allesamt neue facetten aufzeigen.

wir feiern die fulminante rückkehr von hip house. für eine solche standen die zeichen schon seit einiger zeit sehr gut. denn jener mitreissende sound, der ende der achtziger house und hip-hop verbrüdert hat, setzt schließlich immer noch die tanzflächen in brand und sorgt dort für herrlich unkontrollierbare schübe von euphorie. für >work it out<, die erste single ihres neuen albums >behind the masks , haben sich snuff crew mit einem der pioniere und bekanntesten vertreter des genres zusammengetan: tyree cooper. der ist nicht erst seit seinem großen hit >turn up the bass< weltweit erfolgreich. bei >work it out< zeigt er sich nun wieder in bestform. markige raps, heftige grooves, schrille sirenen und wilde scratches sind die explosiven zutaten dieses stücks. und auch der zweite track auf der single wartet mit einem hochkarätigen gast auf. immerhin verleiht die bulgarische sängerin rachel row >new life< mit ihrer umwerfenden stimme pures house feeling mit gänsehautgarantie. passend dazu dringen piano und strings tief ins herz hinein

die zeit scheint reif für bemerkenswerte kollaborationen: ganz im sinne der these, dass das ergebnis mehr ist als die summe ihrer teile, produzieren die beiden bpc-urgesteine kiki und chaim ihre 12inch love kills! unter gemeinsamer flagge. wirklich fremd waren sich die beiden jedoch nie: ihre gegenseitigen remixe – kikis großartige version von chaims album-titeltrack alive von 2011 und chaims 2009er knaller von kikis good voodoo machen lust auf mehr und legen die messlatte erneut ein stück höher!

die neue telefon tel aviv ep featured den berauschend schönen album-opener the birds in seiner originalversion und in zwei remixen, wie sie gegensätzlicher nicht sein können: bpc-chefin ellen allien pustet die schwermütigen nebelwolken des originals kurzentschlossen mit einem knackigen housebeat und munteren acid-sequenzen fort. ghostly international-mitbegründer matthew dear hat schon auf seinem eigenen album black city und seinen remixen für die chemical brothers, the xx und the drums eine ausgeprägte vorliebe für sinistre klanglandschaften offenbart. seine version von the birds bewegt sich stilistisch zwischen allen stühlen, verbindet sie doch kongenial singer/songwriter-elemente mit einem athmosphärisch dichten electronica-kontext. als co-autor, gitarrist und seelenverwandter tritt kein geringerer als cocteau twins-mitbegründer robin guthrie in erscheinung - nicht nur für düstere wintertage und kalte nächte der perfekte soundtrack.

drei titel führen uns in die tiefen der dancefloor-katakomben und entzünden dort ein wahres sound- und beat-feuerwerk. auf tonale elemente hat chloé bewusst verzichtet, melodien - fehlanzeige. einzig the shift geht es noch etwas ruhiger an, während die elektro-epen chatterbox und watch out ebenso funktional wie virtuos von knalligen beats und thrillenden klangfragmenten bestimmt werden. clubmusic par excellence!

marco passarani has done the honours on the flip side. a workaholic from the eternal city of rome, marco is the linchpin of the italian techno scene. he produces under the aliases js pool, monomorph and ambit 3 for the labels skam, hymen, clone and peacefrog, and also runs his own labels plasmek, pigna and nature records marcos >fall into me< remix is unmistakably influenced by hiscarefully nurtured detroit roots. however, he employs these stylistic elements very discreetly, retains beats, melody and vocals in his arrangement, takes out a little of the decorative padding from the album, then finally hits us with a wonderful, trancey eight-tone sequence to send us into the realm of dancefloor dreams for ever.

anja schneiders accomplishments need no introduction as she transforms kikis manic mood compelling title into a modern sounding hegemonic dj-friendly house track. after a spooky intro, holger zilske sets a super-fat, bouncy beat in the middle of the track as serene funk sounds circulate a new life as well as a second face - a real stroke of genius
