the nicetraxuk label welcomes another three artists to get involved for the soulfuricacid ep, bringing a range of straight up house gear to the table for the funkiest spinners to get busy with. leeds based producer j cub follows up appearances on eclectic avenue and saints & sonnets with the woozy, trumpet soaked grooves of mestizo. uk cheeky house mainstay lil mark steps up with another quintessential shuffler in the form of small syndrome, and then moodymanc adopts his dubble d alias for a smooth cruising trip through plush synths and warm bass.

nicetraxuk strides with confidence to its fourth release with some grade a producers on board to confirm the label s position as a trusted outpost for upfront club tackle. moodymanc is on fine form on -where s the story?- dropping an expressive set of drums in a crafty broken beat funk as submerged chords play out and an unnamed source waxes lyrical about stories in house tracks. lil mark meanwhile links up with jcub for -epic 40,- a seriously stripped down club workout that maximizes on finger clicking and moody bass in a flawless demonstration of restraint.

leftroom continues its fine run of eps (recent outings have come from kate simko, sam russo, william djoko, matt tolfrey and others) with a first appearance on the label from lil mark. born mark currell, lil mark has been producing top-notch house since 2001 when he appeared on classic and music for freaks, and more than a decade later still puts most of his peers to shame. the two tracks he supplies here come with remixes from matt tolfrey and matthew styles

eclectic avenue welcomes the inimitable lil mark, one of the true stalwarts of the uk house scene & regular contributor to some of the finest imprints worldwide. here mark expertly shows his unique knack for genre-straddling. kicking off with pulling strings more familiar lil mark territory, with his trademark tight-as-hell percussion & firing bass sat below a freaked-out twisting riff. seriously, this bad-boy takes no prisoners....other than the ones on the dancefloor.... on the flipside we are treated to memoirs, a beautifully sumptous lo-slung roller, utilising a vox refrain over the top of a glorious rolling bass groove. like being comforted by a welcoming acid-bass-hug, this is truly something special. nestled inbetween marks original cuts is e.a.r. main-man j.cub, who offers up an alternate interpretation of memoirsl. taking the vox refrain & weaving it throughout the track like an instrument, j.cub nudges the tempo up slightly & adds a solid percussive backdrop & a reworked bass groove, creating a cut which is deep enough to warm the crowd but packs a solid punch at the same time

a serious bass rub and with some little additions as a clonky rhythm, sparse synth and a robotic voice it's more than enough to drive you up the wall. the freaks remix is more opulent, crammed with raw snare hits, clonky percussion sounds, quirky eccentric synth melodies and rubbery acid lines popping up everywhere: someone should invent a novelty dance to that

essential three-tracker. this one is big on boompty jack and chicago swing - isjazz is a bouncygreenskeepers-styled romp, while life a dream is the standout cut with low-slung bass, old-school beats and weird vocal bits. freak confusion is a trademark lil mark party wiggler, great stuff for the derrick carter and luke solomon fiends out there

we celebrate 30 years of a drum machine that changed the history of music, of creating and projecting our musical dreams.

kicking off the bump sampler is head honcho luke solomon, with his remix of anytime insanity by lil mark. it features vocals by us based vocalist allegra bandy. next up is the brett johnson remix of hot by copenhagen based producer kim kemi. on the b side lil mark s original production runaway, gets the remix treatment by the infamous matt tolfrey for his ec1 mix series. rounding off the sampler is bandwagoneer, a brand new production by lil mark.

justin harris, half of freaks with luke solomon, and label manager of music for freaks, arrives to musex industries with a new vinyl release, titled -beach life ep- 2 original tracks by justin, who comes accompained by an excellent producer like lil mark, remixing -i wanna go on- the second cut of this pure house release.
