with the release of their last album “smoke” (2013) dapayk & padberg moved to a listening oriented direction, that also works perfectly off the dance floor. the new single “sink this ship” underlines their decision to follow this path in the future … maybe even with their upcoming album “harbour” later this year. on “sink this ship” eva padberg unfolds her matured voice, which shows more confidence than on previous records. dapayk skillfully puts her voice in a common scenery, where the straight beats are long over and where is space for extravagances and inventiveness. however, this is not a radical change turning away from the club sound. two of the most sought-after remixer artists at the moment, robot koch and bebetta, ensure the suitability for the dance floor. robot koch skillfully disassembles (for which he is known) the original. primarily he builds his version on the emotional base of eva’s vocal part and dapayk’s warm bass line. however, on the flip side, there is almost a contrasting change. the slight melancholy of the original track gives way for a typical bebetta techhouse beat, that flows through the club in a dreamy, yet simply irresistible manner.

following the success of their fourth studio album smoke and touring for over a year dapayk & padberg felt ready to release the single come out. their brand new track is fresh and present, making it the perfect tool to dance into spring and get rid of thick winter clothing. on the b side the berlin-based electronic duo presents two more album remixes. the pole mooryc wraps the title track smoke in his fragile, soulful and bass-driven slow-mo-electronica. dublin s eomac extends the list of silent fireworks remixes. a deep wobbling sub bass combined with broken beats and spheric pad sounds give the original an eccentric touch of dubstep.

dapayk & padberg welcomes the autumn season with layers. the original version on their 2013 longplayer smoke is a delicately written piece of slowly evolving poetry, that now is wrapped in deep interwoven coats. the new clubby layer 3 version by dapayk & padberg is haute musique, that not only leaves a warm shiver in your head but also salt on your skin.

now, with the release of the first remixes the berlin-based duo as well as renowned artists from the mos ferry label family serve the dancefoor, again. since the release of the album their track >silent fireworks< has been a candidate for a 12inch single. and a remix by marek hemmann and another edit by dapayk complete this vinyl perfectly.

in september 2013 mos ferry presents the fourth album smoke by dapayk & padberg. after their last album sweet nothings on stil vor talent in 2012 with its summery-funky sound the duo is now opening the door to a gloomy-melancholic world. dapayk & padberg consciously turn their back on the dancefloor and abandon the formerly typical balancing act between club sound and listening electronica. even though the a side of the present single is certainly made for the djs, it shall be the sole exception to their current creative path. the down-tempo version of smoke on the b side already reveals the new dapayk & padberg uneasy listening mixture.

there is no place like home. that is exactly what dapayk & padberg had in mind after they released their new album at the beginning of the year. now they reveal their next ep on mo’s ferry. dont sleep lives up to its name. due to this pushing track everyone jumps remote-controlled on the dance floor and the idea of falling asleep has no chance to enter your head. plus, there’s a cherry on the cake: a remix by tiefschwarz.

released in february, dapayk & padbergs sweet mnothings lp showcased an impressive grasp of contemporary electronic music, designed for headphones and dancefloors alike. now, six months later, stil vor talent delivers a remix package that presents the reworks of competition winners ariel curtis and dry/wet dreams, as well as remixes by ryan dupree and dapayk himself.

a couple of months after the release of sweet nothings, dapayk & padberg are once again treating the vinyl-heads amongst us to a 12? consisting of a sunny selection of the albums core material, just in time for spring. kicking off the a-side, berlin summer nights is nothing short of an anthem: classic rave sounds of epic proportions glide through an arrangement of bouncy beats, crisp percussive work and hopeful vocals until a powerful breakdown delivers the hands-in-the-air moment. this year, summer has come early. next up, the sun came up bedazzles with a pumping beat and robotic vocals, while a progressive synth lead helps along the track’s love lyrics, turning this into a truly stunning musical moment, which already proved its power at sweet nothings’ heart. on the flip, dapayk & padberg present the albums opener, the trippy too lazy. here, were dealing with a rather brooding afterhours number that is equal parts paranoid and mesmerising as a wonky bass vibrates under dubbed out pads, eerie synths and vocal whispers. the perfect antidote to the cheery a-side!

in advance of the release of dapayk & padbergs third full-length sweet nothings - this time round on stil vor talent - the experienced duo are teasing us with the fluffy cloud ep, which showcases three of the album’s many diverse highlights, while keeping the vinyl lovers happy. the a-side bears the lps title track >sweet nothings<, on which dapayk & padberg’s sound takes a turn as they come knocking with a deep but forceful groover, whose distorted high-hats and trancey synth stabs create a vibe both euphoric and weirdly subdued. the lyrics, moreover, emphasise the duality at the core of many dapayk & padberg tracks as the latter ponders ‘you’re good for me - you’re bad for me’. showing another of the duo’s many facets, ‘backyard’ enchants thanks to mystical lyrics sung beautifully over a deep quasi-dubstep structure. marking the ep’s mid-point, the atmospheric song shines through intricately crafted fragility and is the perfect contrast to the previous and following track, while leaving a strong desire for more stuck in the listener’s mind. on the b-side, ‘fluffy clouds’ does quite the opposite to what its title suggests - rather than being a soft little piece, we are treated to big-room techno fodder à la berghain. a skeletal framework of heavy kicks, dark pads, white noise and dense metallics works relentlessly underneath a cold spoken word, proclaiming >not human, not animal - just a body in motion<. machine funk par excellence.

mos ferry release #57 is a vinyl re-release of two true classics from the label catalogue. dapayk & padbergs >island< is a special result of a collaboration with the american singer and producer caro. the original track came out in 2007 on their second album >black beauty<. but the choice for this record is the >swimming circles remix< by the parisian dj and producer duo noze (of circus company and get physical fame). originally released on the b side of >black beauty rmxs pt.2< the remix developed into a prominent long runner for the artists and the label. in 2005 >emergency< by dapayk & midnight marked the birth of mos ferrys first sublabel fenou. the 10inch record was released as a limited edition of 1.000 copies, each stamped by hand with a consecutive number. this first and only edition is out of stock for years now and if you are lucky you can buy a rare copy on discogs. reason enough to bring this track on a new mos ferry vinyl release.

fenou #8 - dapayk & padberg on fenou - yes! following up their brilliant >black beauty album< on fenous parent label mos ferry in 2007 and the two album remix records last year this is something new, and different. ok, the duo already had a fenou-like moment with the remix of island (feat. caro) by noze. but this a-side >sugar< shows exactly what the genre description cute minimal electronica actually means. its somewhere between clubby, but distinctive electronica beats, a vocal taht reveals a definite pop-appeal and some lounge-like tunes. the b-side >soir< by dredl kibosh is quite different from that. its a deep and relaxing track developing very slowly to leave a feeling of zero gravity in the end. thereby its not as complex as ezekiel honigs seaside pastures pt.1 on fenou06, but continues the laid-back side of fenou in a perfect way. consequently, the fenou no.8 is presented as a limited edition of 10 records

a colourful music mixture with groovy minimal and poplike experimental song where the familiar experiments of clicking snippets of niklas meet the cheeky, demanding and dreamy lyrics from eva's notebook. just from first brief listen 'close up' is even stronger than expected, dapayks sound is even thicker , intense and more worked out than with his recent singles, eva's voice is even more beautifully blissed and see through , the lyrics more refined. a grown up and thrillingly versatitle 'real' album project, 3 of the 8 tracks are definite and extremely rocking floor anthems
