2017 repress , growing bin records is incredibly happy to bring you the vinyl edition of moon bs lifeworld - previously released on tape by the vancouver based cassette label 1080p. chopped, grainy subcontinental film aural motifs paired with other slankness on moon b’s latest. after a brief pause since his ppu releases, wes gray returns with a remapped take on his distinctly dusty and groovy samplefocused synth funk. gray has worked towards his particular sweet spot of retrofuturism, and lifeworlds segues between antiquity and contemporary g-funk benefit from extremely rich, filmic moods and a general knack for basking in warmth and sincerity rather than obscurity.

if one looks at the output of los angeles based artist mat/matix, he’d find that this quite illusive figure from the la scene of contemporary electronic funk has quite some good tracks in his compact repertoire. this package (which contains a version from fellow west coast artist moon b) is dripping with heart wrenching synth soars and compact drum works that are built with the fierceness that is so significant for both the label and the artist.

frankfurt based producer, dj and music lover martin heimann presents his debut single salto on carry on 008. remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while. enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of salto is a thriving piece of octave liberation. consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while fm pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. the release is ennobled by two proper remixes from moon b (peoples potential unlimited) and jex opolis (good timin). while moon b keeps it bubblin’ with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle italo dance floor energy, the b-side is jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. on top mr. opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

endeavors, the 4th compilation from voltaire records, explores the vibes of boogie, disco, modern funk, and whatever the hell type of music is also on there that doesnt fit into those aforementioned genres. it s the music that a bunch of nasty psychotic animals would be jamming in a festering urban back alley, as shown on the compilation cover, illustrated by oakland- based artist, jessie california

the nuclear family return with the follow-up to the summer’s after effects ep - another four tracks of deeper electronics for discerning djs and dancers. the title cut is a throwback to the days when we made music in our bedrooms with whatever cheap-ass drum machines and synths we could lay our hands on, and we have invited one of our favourite artists, atlantas moon b, to lend his magic touch to a remix on the flip, we drift into dubbier climes before dropping the tempo to close things out on a spaced-out electro tip.
