for those turned on by the far-sighted, sci-fi inspired sounds of detroit deep house and techno, this ep from michael zucker s finale underground imprint (an offshoot of his finale sessions label) should be an essential purchase. with the likes of patrice scott, keith worthy and luke hess involved, you d expect the quality threshold to be high. it is, of course, resulting in a quartet of killer tracks. hess hypnotic techno jam -tolox- is a definite highlight, though it pales in comparison to the analogue futurism of keith worthy s brilliant -cyclops-. best of all, though, is scott s -journey into the unknown-, which bobs, weaves, bubbles and spits to the rush-inducing deep house sound of undulating synthesizer melodies and classic, transmat-style motor city rhythm

long established detroit talent keith worthy traverses a fine line between deep, bumpy house and raw techno on his debut double album, the price of non-conformance. t.p.o.n.c. is a conceptual project that takes you on a virtual walk through the streets of detroit. from a musical standpoint, the sound and feel of t.p.o.n.c. aligns with worthy’s own dna, a complex blend of house and techno, and all while incorporating a degree of fantasy into every composition. always striving to create his own path, and never allowing everyone else’s “norm” to become his influence, worthy really excels in this long player format. in total, t.p.o.n.c. consists of 14 tracks (including 8 songs and 6 interludes) all crafted to convey a vision of what non-conformance looks and sounds like. t.p.o.n.c. has range, from the boom-bap of the drums to the unorthodox patterns and key structures, this project evokes a sense of individualism that often gets lost in todays modern world of musical proliferation. in true detroit fashion, and in tandem with the spirit of aesthetic audios own mantra, t.p.o.n.c. maintains, the rule is there are no rules.

moments in rhythm vol 3. was inspired by an in-depth conversation that questioned the level of importance that todays society does or does not value its critical art forms, most specifically music … the universal language, as a means of free expression. from this passionate discussion spawned the composition of an opened ended letter, written in 4/4 format that captures and shares the passion of this conversation, and ultimately asks some questions such as … is it in you?
