nice price deal !!! joining the force for the seventh edition of reclaim your city comes two major influencers from the united states, new york and chicago with adam x and mike parker as well as dj hyperactive and jeff derringer respectively, who have each left their distinguished mark on the genre and their hometown. with chicago as the birthplace of house music, it carries a rich history in the genre which is known to nurture its underground talent, while new york with its raw, grungy energy transformed house music into techno with a fierce attitude.

the first release back in 1997 on 4 track records was by dj hyperactive titled p.51 and here were are nearly 20 years later and we’re going to see the next release again by hyperactive on vinyl again titled “black on black” ep. this ep will be three tracks, 2 which are acid tracks and one long experimental spaced out track.

droid recordings presents a new 12 inch from dj hyperactive, whose jacking chicago sound has evolved over the years into a deeper sound that maintains his signature infectious drive. on 25 hours, an undulating, bassy synth line builds into the machine-voiced partiers dream of 25 hours in a day, before the track takes off with neck-breaking snare and clap combos and proceeds to rebuild. raíz pulls the track from the depths to deliver something more brash and energetic. there is more at play here, with the 3-note riff tweaked throug the tracks duration, and the words 25 looped through a series of insistent, smashing snares. in the final mix, newcomer markus suckut follows his recent remixes of xhin and pfirter with an unexpected and idiosyncratic interpretation. tonal elements are drawn into the lower registers, while the vocal sample slithers around the mix. the syncopated elements of the original surface with in an alternative mode, dark and driving.

for nearly a decade, raíz and subversive have distributed their vision of dance music on various labels including historia y violencia, electric deluxe, construct reform, droid recordings and their own imprint, vrv. three years into the vrv project, the label heads have decided it is time to expand the roster and showcase artists on a similar plane, producers they know can speak to the sound. the chosen interpreters on this release include dj hyperactive, santiago salazar and voiski.

following the acclaim of time travelers im made of stars lp, michele pinna presents the remixes report i, featuring remixes of tracks from the album by four key names in european and us techno. these remixes take pinnas dystopian sci-fi vision and place it firmly in the club, with each artist providing their own unique take on a different track from the album.

the second of this year’s smd singles on their own delicacies label is features another two original tracks, leading with the hypnotic, late night techno loping of “remember in reverse”, drenched in glistening synths. the second track, “soft attack” takes a much more direct approach, with a brash battering of crash cymbals on every 4th bar marking time as a sinuous synth melody curls around the rhythmatic trunk. “soft attack (drum version)” pares it down even further, excising the melody for a minimal dj tool. also included here is a remix of ‘remember in reverse” from 90s mid west techno legend, dj hyperactive, who we’re super excited to have on this release. he extensive 11 minute rework transforms the track, sprinkling it with subtle doses of acid. after a short hiatus following their modular-only, desert recorded last album “whorl”, during which smd s james ford found himself on production duties for everyone and their dog, smd are back with bunch of techno cuts on their own delicacies label. over a couple of months in jas shaw s newly re-located synth-dense studio in leafy kent, which saw smd once again experiment with live jams as the basis for their production, they’ve pulled together a selection of eight tracks for release as a series of four singles over the coming months. smd fans will note that the earlier naming convention of delicacies has fallen by the wayside – for the simple reason that we’ve pretty much run out of weird and wonderful food stuffs to steal names from. instead, a semi-random automated process has been used to create the track names.

marco effe packs oo5 with two classic driving techno tracks, with the pleasure of two american greats dj hyperactive and dustin zahn on the remixs.

after the recent releases on minimal soul and wet cellar, label boss mattia trani is back again on pushmaster discs with a killer ep completed with a great dj tool remix by the chicago veteran dj hyperactive (4 track records/figure/clr).
