ross allens meltdown music recordings is kick-starting into life with this stunning mini album/ep from welsh native and production talent evm. evms music holds a fine balance between the contemporary and the classic, between uk garage, broken hip-hop, and the vibe of reggae, house and soul, wrapped in velvety production and a technical style all of his own. title track >groove content< has been a mainstay on ross weekly ministry of sound show for six months, and its now in the hands of gilles peterson who has already hailed it as a classic, supporting it on his bbc radio 1 show and tearing it up on the main stage at this years sonar festival.

brand new year, brand new imprint. coop presents is an all-new record label, founded by ig culture and alex phountzi, set to focus on the depth and wealth of talent that exists within the london bruk movement and beyond, a project which they consider to be a continuation in the same spirit of the legendary coop movement. last summer, the coop presents crew released an ep via first word records entitled selectors assemble . this was the first collective offering from a foundation comprised of uk dance music pioneers and nowadays bruk soldiers, navigating in & around the world of broken beat and beyond over the last two decades to the present day. reinvigorated by recent boiler room sessions, the crew proceeded with more parties, more radio shows, and gained access to an unlimited pool of all-new sounds. the squad were primed and ready to move forwards from the famed days of the plastic people dances, and further explore the evolution of their sound.

in accord with wotnot s knack for nurturing talent, our first dancefloor sweets featured an early appearance from tartelet & money $ex artist imyrmind, and the first ever k15 house track! volume 2 continues in this vein with a new pick n mix bag of feel-good crowd-pleasers from evm128, body-san, danvers and galactic ganesh, while volume 1 also receives a long overdue (limited) press to vinyl, with a new added track from sexruleseverything.

tommy garofalo aka turbojazz returns to local talk after remixing corrado bucci back in 2015. a producer with great versatility that started djing and producing music during the 90 s, heavily inspiried by hip hop. something that would bring him to explore the whole black music culture, from dance floor jazz to rare funk and disco, passing through all things soulful and deep. take all of the above & stir it in a musical pot and you get the unbreakable ep , the debut 12- on local talk from turbojazz. the ep kicks of with please u which features david blank on vocals. a retro-futuristic track with warm chords draping themselves over snappy snares & melodies. on the flip, unicorn rising bounces along with the sort of finesse you d expect from a producer like recloose, it s flavoured with quirky breaks and warm fuzz bass & analogue-sounding keys. last but not least we ve got evm128 on remix duties, a feel-good slice of broken beat anyone ? it s a blinder ladies and gentlemen.
