ein album im sinne klassischer songwritertraditionen. natürlich angereichert mit anleihen an ihre detail-versessene und floor-berauschende aneignung von house, aber überdeutlich zu einem in sich geschlossenen sound-kapitel verdichtet. es ist ein album, das neben der kooperation mit bostons e-funk wizard tanner ross auf zwei stücken vor allem in zusammenarbeit mit dem englischen sänger und musiker chris james entstand. james, der unter anderem auch mit seiner band stateless auf ninja tune und !k7 veröffentlicht, hat einen wesentlichen anteil an der strahlkraft dieses albums. seine wärmende stimme und seine intuitive entwicklung von gesangsarrangements fruchteten augenblicklich mit den vorstellungen der berliner produzenten und so erarbeiteten sie letztendlich elf gemeinsame stücke ...

jay shepheard liefert gleich zwei remixes des stueckes, eine etwas entsaettigte variante mit synthmotiv, die die gesangsharmonie einfach auf den kopf stellt und den falsett-anteil in den vordergrund schiebt und eine fassung, die zwischen floorgroove und melancholischem gitarrenseufzen die genaue mitte sucht. ein aehnlicher ansatz ist auch im death on the balcony edit zu beobachten, der die zarten arrangements des originals aufgreift und sich unter beihilfe eines treibenden bass-grooves etwas entschiedener in richtung floor ausrichtet.

ein ganzes jahr ist seit dem letzten release der beiden suol-macher chopstick & johnjon vergangen. mit der roots ep schicken sie nun den ersten vorboten ihres angekündigten debüt-albums in die welt hinaus. gesangliche unterstützung leistet hier signaljacker von der uk-band stateless (ninja tune, k7). zwei verschiedene mixe gibt es vom titeltrack - der originalmix kommt melancholisch daher, während der alternative mix sommerliche leichtigkeit versprüht. außerdem enthalten ist mit still breathing ein track, der die beiden berliner so deep und dubbig zeigt wie nie zuvor.

for their first release in 2010, the infamous label kanzleramt will team up with suol for this split release called nip split : 01. as the 01 might already tell you, this isnt a one time thang ... this is just the beginning of a looooong relationship to come! on the kanzleramt side we find suol label owners chopstick & johnjon (true, its starting to get a bit complicated here) with the track infidelity that is already a sure shot in the recordbags of the suol and kanzleramt family. infidelity gives us a sneak peak on the guys background, with its sample based theme and the ruff programing. there might have been one or two hip hop parties that the two attended in the past. give this one a spin and the groove will show you, how much impact this lovely house tracker gonna have on the floors. on the flip side mr. kanzleramt himself aka heiko borrowed us his artist peter horrevorts for a dancefloor monster!

booka shade are set to release crossing borders featuring fritz kalkbrenner from their 2013 album eve on embassy one / blaufield music. booka shade first met fritz when he asked them to remix one of his songs, as we are fans of his voice, we thought it would be a great idea if he would sing a vocal for one of our demos for the new album. he came to our studio with the lyrics of crossing borders and within 1 hour, the song was recorded. crossing borders is enriched with acoustic and chilling electronic tones and demonstrates the trials and tribulations of the every day struggle weve got to go on, even if we stray, crossing borders to another side
