for the second and far overdue release on his little leaf imprint matt moroder delivers a superlative psychedelic reimagination of shuggie otis which sits far beyond the realm of your blog standard ableton edit. matt scliced the original into little pieces put it new together and added some drums and percussion with the respect this soul classic deserves. this rework is hypnotizing makes you wish to never end. on the flip hamburgs hardest working entertainer erobique used the same kind of gentleness to rework some cello and voice by one of the greates disco visionaries and songwriters that left us much to early. by creating a dirty mpc beat and blend it with vocals and cello erobique creates his own vision of the late arthur russell far from the average four too the floor mediocrity. this vinyl only release is strictly limited to 300 copies and shines even more with a splendid artwork that shows love and care
LITTLE LEAF 1

matt moroder - one half of the team that brought you the short-lived but no less notorious glossy series - unearthes his new ambitious -little leaf- project compiling other producers and his own reworks of songs that are not your usual disco/ boogie fare but demand a true diggers and imaginative djs mind to spot their dancefloor potential. matt moroder proves this ability right away with the blinding, hypnotizing >secret secret< - an interpretation of a cut by one the biggest, most avantgardistic 70s rock/ pop icons. he extends a short portion of the originals beat, loops the jagged guitar riff and throws in more layers of congas, shaker, handclaps etc before revealing the tracks secret by throwing in parts of the chorus sung by this totally distinctive, instantly recognizable voice. flip over for spanish producer nelues take on >porque te vas< - a one hit wonder song that had worldwide success after being the main theme in carlos saura cannes-winning movie >cria cuervos<. already an unusual mixture in its original form - breathy lolitaesque vocals gel ingeniously with a more 60s bubblegum orchestration of horns, big beats and folky guitar - nelue does a great job with sublte loops and additional bubbly synth overdubs while keeping the sing-a-long charm intact. both tracks already recieve well-desereved support from mark-e, gilb-r ( chateau flight ), beppe loda, tim sweeney and more main players. these two big cuts shouldnt need extra arguments, but since mr moroder is a generous guy he also throws in some extra special, lush artwork for this vinyl only release
