i have no words to say about this album but, wow... simply, wow. what is this? who is this dude? he (atle) got the funk. atle got the soul. atle got the smooth sound of westcoast. when he was in his teens, he spent all his money on music, women and party. here is the result of 10 handpicked demos from his vast archives. this stuff has been sitting on the shelves since late 70 s and has been carefully restored, mastered and produced exclusively for this album.

als “vorbildliche musikalische begleitung zu einem vollen tanzsaal” konzipiert, reinterpretiert “blue latin” ein musikalischen genres - jazz. schon vor jahrzehnten galt jazz als die tanzmusik par excellence und gerardo frisina liefert, modernisiert, von afro-kubanischen, brasilianischen und latin-jazz-elementen kontaminiert, vor allem tanzbar gemacht. das fast meditative “incanto” vereint spirituelle jazz-einflüsse und afrikanische atmosphäre.

harry j galt als einer der wichtigsten produzenten jamaikas, betätigte sich aber auch selbst als musiker. mit seinen allstars genannten studiomusikern brachte er drei instrumental-alben heraus. das debüt gibt es jetzt als re-release auf vinyl in 180g. *liquidator* erschien 1969 und wurde vor allem in großbritannien ein großer erfolg. der titeltrack zählt zu den wichtigsten songs der damals entstehenden skinhead-kultur und schaffte es auf platz 9 der uk singles charts. weitere highlights auf *liquidator* sind die rocksteady/reggae-versionen des beatles-songs *dont let me down* und des bardot/gainsbourg-duetts *je t aime*. in seinem harry j studio nahmen u.a. bob marley & the wailers auf. dort empfing harry auch musikgrößen wie die rolling stones, the who oder grace jones.

ein blick auf einen teil von bob dylans repertoire, der lange als vergessen und ignoriert galt. ein teil der einkünfte geht an die wohltätigkeitsorganisation pencils of promise.
