counterweight welcomes to the label the rising berlin artist opål with this excellent 4-track full of techno ep... the title track, luminescence, is a rough and hard hitting 4/4 warehouse destroyer. -impala- reduces the tension and shows a more melodic side of the artist but still keeping his characteristic industrial touch. on the b side opål shows what is the definition of -driving- techno with -eclipse-, this is simply amazing. the last track is an absolutely outstanding remix by the italian artist pvs, who explores new atmospheric shapes and goes beyond simple 4/4 structures. pump up the volume, this is real shit!

we are more than pleased to present the new counterweight artist, our new family member directly from aarhus/denmark. we adopted antn and his synthesizer army right after listening to his kickass techno. his brutal kicks, cut up voice samples, relentless hi-hats and aggressive synths convince from the very first second and you will easily understand, why we ve chosen him. to round up this release we are glad to have this massive rave mix by under black helmet... a dancefloor destroyer.

munich s counterweight is back with some serious stuff from the hands of gonzo mdf. the second vinyl release of the label cuts it straight to the point: this is techno for the dancefloor without compromise. the madness starts with -don t trust those who talk so much- with its acid touch and rough atmosphere. in a2 endlec translated the track into his own language: beast-techno. in -destroy- gonzo mdf finds the perfect balance between melancholy and aggressive percussion and -we didn t give up- is the perfect way to round up the release. so... we let them talk and we keep on working .

belgian producer joris biesmans (aka cashmere* and benn lian) delivers a counterweight to the fast food music that ram-raids its way into todays mainstream consciousness, with a project named tve - the virtual escape indicating his urge to escape from todays data-saturated, musicas mass-industrial-product environment. musically, tve aims for an aesthetic ambush incorporating strange & self-made hardware instruments, tape machines, non-standard structures, atonal abstraction, noise, distortion and randomness - openly embracing imperfections instead of smoothing them out with calibrated presets & templates. to this end, tve has brought two masters of this approach on board for the labels debut ep and with creme organization alumni legowelt and asok bringing forth their own inimitable style on remixes of biesmans delightfully askew original productions. keep an eye out for more engaging oddities on future tve releases to come. early support from: massimiliano pagliara, tim sweeny, ambivalent, lando

two pieces of snarling filter house from nyc heavyweights robbie busch aka dj mcboing boing - record dealer to the stars, digger extraordinaire, & dj of sweaty underground parties around the world, and josh dunn - one part of the sorely missed 100 limousines, and one third of the holy trinity that put on new york s legendary foreal people party. for two guys so deeply immersed in the rich history of urban dance music, from the blues & gospel through deep disco, soul, chicago and detroit sounds, you could be forgiven for expecting to hear a rich homage to the sounds of the past. instead we get the future ghost of ron hardy playing the record backwards on a janky turntable with a quarter for a counterweight and fucking shit up in every conceivable way. these two are chiefly concerned with moving things forward, having some fun, and taking no prisoners along the way. golf channel every time !
