der frontmann der rolling stones ist solo unterwegs und veröffentlichte zu seinem 74. geburtstag zwei singles “gotta get a grip / england lost” die ihm sehr am herzen liegen. Über “gotta get a grip” sagte mick jagger: “ich denke, die botschaft ist, dass du trotz all der dinge, die gerade geschehen, dein leben weiterleben und du selbst sein musst.”

once more scouring the annals of disco history for the hottest jams, best look beyond italy and snap up this much-vaunted slice of american funk from 1982. while second hand prices can get out of control, it s not hard to hear why this glittering prize from jagg would be so coveted - it s got everything. jazz-leaning slap bass, mean synthesizer chops and soaring vocals - -take time- is prime to set the party off, and no longer is it the preserve of wealthy collectors. originally a single-sided affair, best have done the right thing and filled the b-side up with an extended version to let that groove roll on even longer.

jagger botchway is most famous for his work with the hedzoleh soundz and hugh masekela. jagger was also the driving force behind the highly sought-after ghanaian afro-funk masterpiece moving world by the kelenkye band.
deano sounds, along with voodoo funks frank gossner, teamed up to release the kelenkye bands later material, jungle funk, back in 2012. jagger went back into the studio with a group of musicians he had played with from various points in his career to record an album of unique soca and highlife sounds. what was put down on tape was a heavy mix of percussion, striking highlife guitar lines and futuristic synth stabs with soaring african voices. deano sounds and jagger rescued the original multi-track dat tapes that were hiding in obscurity in ghana.
cultures of soul invited a host of todays best remixers to give them the freedom to create their own interpretations of the material. these producers include berlins africaine 808, manchesters ruf dug, switzerlands alma negra and new yorks names you can trust.

foul & sunk, the swiss-german house-imprint based in freiburg and zurich, rings the bells for round 4 with the eriswil ep by jagged, a spunky release that blushes your cheeks like a strong sip of bernese apple brandy. and bern is the code word that sheds light on the origin of jagged: behind the name hide three veterans of the swiss house music scene - the djs and producers benfay, jay sanders and zukie173, who emerge from the vicinity of the now discontinued freestyle label a few among others, whose founder was zukie173. as jagged, they are releasing house music built upon hard-hitting drums, sinister bass lines and soul-drenched instrumentation for over four years by now. they debuted on quintessentials with hello kool nice in 2008, and didnt lose their gritty energy since then. now, theyre back on foul & sunk with eriswil, a deep rolling, dark monster that also gets a remix-treatment by the abstract eye

after their great debut >motzbaz / indeed< on afao recordings and the following 12inches >hello kool nice< and <langenthal ep< on quintessentials recordings, which found its way into the bags and charts of djs like quarion, laurent garnier, jimpster and many more, jagged strikes back with a 12 on bonzzaj recordings. this single also contains a hot remix by the dutch multi-talented man aardvarck, one half of the rednose district. jaggeds productions are restrained and minimal in the right way - they doesnt let things get overloaded. they focuses mainly on straight beats and functional house music but always with the right ingredient of soul and rawness. the title track ten to twelve is a heavy cut with a lot of disco influences, funky basslines, cool house-grooves and surprising changes all over the track. the remix of ten to twelve comes from aardvarck, who releases on rushhour, kindred spirits and delsin. he transformed the original in an broken beat stomper, which sounds like it emerged straight out of londons co-op. the b-side contains chicago, a deep house number with forward going percussions, warm strings, oldscool-house-vocals and a slight acid flavour and last but not least the track an orange drippin, which takes you with its deep synth, percussions, basslines, bells and things in the deeper shades of…jagged nation. hot shit gesundheit

jagg has been and in demand among 12inch soul/funk record collectors for some time. killer boogie 12inch finally reissued...nice!!

after their hello kool nice release (quintessentials 02), the jagged boys are back with another fab production. the main track langenthal is, well, we dare to say tech house with a disco feel and ready for club use! new york pumps it up even more and is another proof that jagged are well diverse. after quarion and harry swinger on qe 02, its now up to the mighty brothers vibe to do the remix - he delivered a monster mix! and let all of us know about his house and our house!
