the very awaited vinyl release of this 2013 digital work of the french frederick barbe aka cold colors with the ukranian oksana rodionova aka xiu. the included tracks are somewhere between classical synthwave and light and extremely peaceful coldwave without loose the dj friendly approach characteristic of past cold colors productions. xiu s eerie vocals gives a new dimension to cold colors extremely elegant and simple analog sequences... this is a truly plastical jewel!. all tracks have been analogically remastered specially for this vinyl version.

cold colors was born in bordeaux, france, in the mid 70s. his passion for music, particularly new wave and melancholic atmospheres, started early and strongly influenced his own creations years later. the first records he ever bought were the cure, depeche mode and soft cell. in the 90s, frederick bought his first guitar and composed songs under the name agent orange. in 2002, the cold colors project was born, with a release on the excellent lux records, as well as many live performances. fred loves working with machines. his music mixes warmth and melancholia, an obvious homage to cold wave and new wave, by blending todays electronic music with the melodic sounds of yesterday.

lux rec continue their endless research at the margins of music, what is underground, at every latitude, to find rough gems and bring them to light. after a series of releases which explore techno in various ways, they turned their attention to another field. that of the cold electronics and new wave movement, and french musical existentialism. cold colors comes from bordeaux, france. to lux rec he is the best expression of and a new take on that type of music. a sense of solitude is the first reaction to his music. melodic longings for something that is not there, unreachable. four songs to depict a hopeless stare into emptiness. shadows of a love long gone.
