soul brother präsentiert zwei absolute soul-klassiker von johnnie taylor aus seiner 1960er phase bei stax records erstmals auf einer gemeinsamen 7-: die fantastische two-step-midtempo-ballade “ain’t that lovin’ you” (1966), die später von luther ingram, alton ellis und dennis brown gecovert wurde, und den uptempo-favoriten aus der northern soul-szene, “blues in the night” (1967).

over on the other side we have more classic-sounding flevans material with the party starting funk breaks of “take your money”. his signature jazzy keyboard and guitar licks converse with cheeky vocal samples all flying in and out of this slick production in a delightful fashion. it’s all about the beats on this one – it’s a guaranteed foot mover!

killer unreleased mid 70’s blue eyed soul/aor - between the sessions at wishborne sound studios, the session musicians terry woodford, clayton ivey, muscle shoals horns among others, got down to record some of the finest funky soul and aor. they took the name mirage, aiming for stardom. unfortunately no album was ever released and many tracks went on the shelves in the studio. over 40 years later, preservation records are releasing two of their finest tracks on an exclusive 7”. only 500 pressed.
