marky is considered to be one of the greatest djs on the planet. world citizen, he set up house in sao paulo, the brazilian capital of electronic music and has since crossed the boarders of over 50 countries spreading his feel-good brazilian flavoured brand of drum and bass.
big in the clubs, this release has already gained massive support from all the big dogs in the scene from andy c to annie mac, this is sure to be another massive release for marky & s.p.y and the digiboy camp.
dj marky returns in 2009 with a special ep release alongside long time friend and new-found musical co-conspirator, s.p.y. marky is well known for championing burgeoning new talent across the board and in s.p.y. and new vocalist miri, he has found two absolute gems. regardless of who the collaboration is with, marky always manages to find the elements of funk and soul indicative of a dj marky track. s.p.y. is really coming into his own in 2009 as an artist in his own right, with a string of big releases receiving masses of airplay, making him one of the most sought after properties in dnb.
the give me your love e.p. is packed full of the soulful, deep grooves that are synonymous with the innerground imprint, whether it be the sultry vocals and bounding rhythm of >days go slow< or the so-called liquid, jump-up elements of tapestry. both artists production skills are more than evident in kinky funky, which has been a dancefloor hit almost as much as the outstanding title track give me your love as it ebbs and flows through the myriad of tight beats and heavy basslines.
the final chapter of vonstrokes limited vinyl album remixes features some seriously low end.
remix #1 is one the favorites of the entire project. claude met brazils dj marky on an artist bus at a uk festival last summer and gave him the track >aundy<. he asked him to do a mix and marky and his friend s.p.y. turned in this amazing drum n bass version. numerous artists have been dropping it even in the middle of house sets! it really captures the drum n bass feeling of the original track taking it back to the genre which inspired it.
remix #2 is from our up and coming bristol based bass prodigy, julio bashmore. he takes on >california< the co-production by cvs and j phlip to another level, adding smooth low end bukem style bass drops and shimmery vox/pad programming to the already insane track. bashmore is one of the few new breed of uk producers who cross over all the way from house to dubstep.
many will know of zincs stature in the word of dnb, from classic tracks such as >casino royale< for tru playaz, to a series of hits for his own label, bingo beats. now, reincarnated in the house genre, zinc has asked dj marky and fellow consort s.p.y. to remix one of his latest and greatest club anthems, >wile out<. with ms dynamite on vocals, the original has been doing some serious damage on the circuit, and the dnb refix by marky & s.p.y. is something truly special. due out in july on innerground records, this will be an exceptional addition to any self-respecting djs record box.
after a short hiatus one of the worlds most credible dj led compilation series returns to the forefront with impeccable pedigree as always. the kings of drum & bass is set to rumble bass bins across the world...
