after only just recently raising our glasses to our 50th upon you release, heres number 51 just waiting in the bleachers…so basically we are on our way to number 100. our italian friends re-up have rustled up this very promising release called >the new mood ep<. why the name ? i hear you ask. well these two tech-house experts have dug deep to give us a1 with its ecstatic drum rolls in >darkness< , a2 gives us the title track with its dubby-chordy kind of sound, like magically pulling the reins on an indian horse. >what else< they ask themselves on b1 while they gallop over the uy parcour to end this little journey with >so good< on b2.

the owl, like its namesake, sits in the shadows. its deep, dubby bassline lazily rolls along, as our franco-italian alliance layer their percussive elements. string stabs usher in the smooth-keyed break, before that weighty bass drops back in. on the flip, txarco brings a sinister, somewhat industrial brand of funk, provided brilliantly by its growling, predatory bassline. as scything sounds, breathy vocals, and a variety of drums rolls lunge from the darkness, and fade just as quickly, we are constantly guarded by our bassline protector.

our spanish collegues oel polygon have redefined themselves. leo and omar cobble on together as a re-up in musical togetherness. nonchalantly as usual- the two keep on cooking crispy tech-house to the limits and let the heart of the club-gourmets melt away. between venice and barcelona they have peeled especially pretty models out of their sequencer. “inside us” is telling us a lot about the drive of the record and strives with tough techno-vocals the hit pig across the upon you court. once you’ve wrapped out the a1 bon-bon you’ll find yourself greedily diving into the b-side, which- together with “phonobox” and “dos por dos” skilfully completes the box of candies

opiums latest offering from italian techno impresario destrict offers up intelligent deep journeys culminating in this 6 tracks ep alice hole highlights the artists signature sound by incorporating his trademark analog beats and deep undulating melodics whilst holding a solid break groove. chandni chowk carries the same vibe but pushes the producers sound deeper into self indulgent drum programming that keeps you locked amongst its evolving mood. denis kaznacheev alongside the analogue cops pushed the destrict beats to another level jumping form minimalistic to techno tunnels. re-up and rich nxts appearances bring more straight up dance-floor ready locked-grooves and re-works. again, if your comfort zone is a tunnel opium audio is your safe place.

sometimes, things can be worth waiting for, and the rift valley by rebelski is a project that has lingered in the cadenza psyche (and record boxes) for well over a year. already a staple in the dj sets of luciano and other cadenza personnel, the piece finally gets a full release with remixes from lee van dowski, and luciano himself this summer.
