an artefact from a perfect studio long abandoned, bok bok drops this alternative deleted mix of his new single *melbas call*. this version will be available on limited 10&#8243,,, vinyl only, as part of the night slugs white label series. both the original mix (released digitally march 31st) and this version feature kelela, the powerful vocalist behind the smash cut 4 me mixtape, released last year on fade to mind. boks instrumental melted in the trash, mangled tape dragging his cyborg funk to an excruciating, ruined memphis-like quarter-time. meanwhile kelela remains as immediate as ever, evoking r&b greats from a cannon she is clearly set to join. to be played loud and preferably in the dark.

played by sven väth !!! night voyage tool kit is the collaborative project of two like-minded producers, night slugs bok bok and tom trago, curator of the rush hour labels voyage direct series. originally commissioned by sound pellegrino label boss teki latex, this is the result of four intense days and nights in toms amsterdam studio, surrounded by hardware and enshrouded in a thick haze. having pursued very different directions in their respective solo work, the duo find common ground in minimalism, dj tools, the neptunes and ghetto house. the result is a collection of stripped down rhythm tracks aimed straight for the club: the arpeggiator workout of pathfinder, vectors cosmic jeep bass, pom clash and its grimey lil louis tribute, and the acid epic lil ma bonus beat.

at long last, night slugs drop a ep from the labels co-founder bok bok. representing his full gamut of influences as well as his labels hypercolour, bottom-heavy, club-ready aesthetic, the southside ep is an extend manifesto of a release for the south london dj / producer.
the three tracks on the 12 inch share a core sound palette, one that merges raw and convulsive acid house with functionalist 8-bar grime: the warm sound of vintage drum machines and analog bass combined with the razor-sharp, dystopian digital dread of noxious sawtooths and gliding squares.

the newest installment in night slugs vinyl-only nswl series is dedicated to >liberation front<, a track taken from egyptrixx debut lp >bible eyes<, released on ns earlier this year. without a doubt the albums biggest dancefloor cut, >liberation front is built to work best in huge rooms, stirring thousands of people at a time into a frenzy. on the a side, the original track is taken on by dj mike q, a stalwart of the vogue / ballroom club scene of his native new jersey. mike delivers an incredibly raw and stripped down remix of >liberation front<, re-working egyptrixxs unique sound design into a matrix of hard kicks, runway percussion and the of course the ballroom genres masters at work-sampling dramatic ha snare. an uncompromising rhythm track, this is club music at its most direct. as a bonus, the a side also features an edit of mike qs remix by bok bok, re-arranging the track and adding a tuff acid bassline to bring that soundsytem weight ns is known for. meanwhile keeping djs happy, the b side is dedicated to the original mix of >liberation front< in its full seven-minute glory.

marcus price & carli have been leading djs in the swedish electronic scene for almost 10 years. both accomplished producers - carli is one half of savage skulls (dubsided) and one half of stay gold (magnatron) - while marcus price, also known as basutbudet, produced the infamous rapper mapei s debut release. he is also a member of the noted hip hop group fattaru, who reached the uppermost echelons of musical success in scandinavia in the early 00 s.
