Seventy Seven Records out of Nashville. Tennessee is knows well known outside the funk and soul scene for classic spins by Ann Sexton and Jackey Beavers (as heard recently on theo parish’s ugly edit 11). Here we dig a little deaper into the labels catalogue to bring you two northern soul anthems of the more funky persuasion. The first is a Jackey beaver penned anthem which was record by many bands including The Jackey Beavers Show. Karen Striblin. and The Camaros. There is no doubt this is the definitive version getting huge spins on every soulful dance-floor in Europe. japan and abroad its become prohibitively expensive in the last couple of years for all but the most dedicated soul collectors with deep wallets. so we got hold of the master and did a brand new transfer from the tapes and its sounding like it was recorded yesterday. even if you do have an original (which you probably dont) i would recommend having a listen to this new louder ritcher version. On the flip we have band stablemates The Valentines with the irresistable pop-soul shoul have been a hit >Breakaway< which was spun as a new record in the 70s on soul dancefloors and never stoped spinning. Bothe lovingly restored and remastered for todays dancefloors.
