oakland-based dj/producer (100% silk / as you like it) teams up with fellow bay area fixtures cm-4 & jason kendig (honey soundsystem) for an ep of banging melodic tracks straddling the line between house & techno + a touch of acid.

left hand path is proud to present its fourth release - ice pick, a beautifully aggressive four track techno ep from bay area troublemaker michael claus. following acclaimed releases on jacktone and 100% silk and his unforgettable remix on our last record by nackt, ice pick plays with (and against) modern movements in underground techno to satisfying effect. while michael s previous releases featured a gorgeous dub-infused atmosphere, ice pick steps towards a more militant sound. its eponymous title track is described perfectly by its name - a lethal rhythmically compelling club track primed for the peak of a late-night dj set. for each has the listener ascending an endless staircase of arpeggios, chased by raw electro beats. hexes is introspective, reinforcing michael’s talent for writing sublime melodic hooks. the record’s closer acid 46 is a bonafide dance floor stomper built around an undulating, coruscating acid riff, giving it a kaleidoscopic bay area twist.

jacktone records is pleased to announce our latest release: a vinyl ep titled channel from rising house producer, loren steele the ep from san francisco-based steele is comprised of four original tracks designed for the dancefloor, plus a sprawling psychedelic remix from mathematics/100% silk veteran, roche. not only are the tracks varied and ready for skilled djs to drop at that perfect spot of the night, but, they’re also earworms - hooking you with their infectious grooves and melodies. the clean production and energetic structure of the originals, featuring perfectly-placed pads, stabs and filters washing over propulsive basslines and percussion locks in a warm yet hands-in-the-air vibe. the roche remix of swimma draws out the groove and adds some of that san francisco psychedelic fog. the tracks were recorded live in single takes with little post production processing, giving them a kinetic feel that can’t be reproduced. channel was produced with creative feedback from both cherushii and nackt, whom were lost in the oakland fire. the ep is released in their memory. loren steele is a san francisco-based producer and multi-instrumentalist. as a bassist, dj and a solo live pa artist, he has performed at bay area institutions, haceteria, ok hole, psychic friends, run the length of your wildness, space gallery, public works, and underground sf. he has releases on wolf and lamb music, run the length of your wildness, bob recordings

cgi records is extremely proud to be presenting the new ep from oakland via-bermuda based artist russell e.l. butler. i m dropping out of life are 4 cuts of essentialist dance music that can provide an ecstatic escape from the drudges of professional life for all who so rightly seek it. as russell himself elaborates, the title has been on my mind a lot, since i almost lost my life in the ghost ship fire and watched as many of my friends lost theirs. i came up with the title several months ago, in fact 2 of the tracks were shopped in a producer s group that johnny (nackt) and chelsea (cherushii) were a part of, both of whom i lost in the fire. this release is about a commitment to life. the life that i refer to dropping out of, is a life where dreams are put on hold, where concessions are made in order to just survive. but that comes at a cost, one that is far too great for me to pay at this point. i wrote this poem, it ll come as an insert with the record.

produziert wurde das album in berlin von nackt (apparat), co-produziert haben ben lauber und ein electro-pionier der zweiten generation: t.raumschmiere. *out of chaos* enthält zwölf moderne electro-chansons zwischen bar und tanzfläche. herausgekommen ist ein großes album, auf dem dieter meier an der bar seines lebens über den fluss der zeit sinniert. mal klingen seine lieder wie electro-akustische yello-songs (lazy night, paradise game, jimmy) mal wie ein zärtlicher verflossenen-blues aus dem tiefen ozean (loveblind, annabelle), mal gibt es postpunkige unverschämtheiten (fat fly, baffoon), oder eine ode an einen befreundeten künstler, der sich als nachtportier durchschlagen muss, wird zum besten gegeben (night porter). immer klingt *out of chaos* nach einer magischem sound-alchemie aus chanson, electro und dub. im mai startet die tournee zum album!
