Glasgow-based Maelstrom is a relative newcomer to the scene, coming to prominence late last year with a now infamous reworking of Metro Area's seminal Miura. Determined not to be a flash-in-the-pan producer, the 28 year old has been somewhat prolific over the last few months making a name for himself with a number of carefully sculpted edits on the revered edits label Mindless Boogie as well as his own Solardisco imprint. Counting names such as Todd Terje and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy as fans, he has recently stepped up a gear with his own original productions for Solardisco and has an EP scheduled for release on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label later in the year. But what you have in your hands here is his debut for Eskimo! Well, not really, you found him earlier on the Cosmic Balearic Beats Vol. 1 comp with his fantastic track Petrichor. But this is his first full EP, and there's more to come! Take a listen and get blown off your socks!
