Wareika - Belonging - Eskimo Recordings (Bel)
While we're on the subject of Theo Parrish esque scratchy deep house plodders, here's another dropping on Belgium's Eskimo. This time round, the atmospheric, smoky grooves take centre stage, as the previously unknown Wareika concentrate on layered percussion (bongs, congas, soft hand claps), minimal pads and a super-seductive, almost whispered soul vocal. It's terrific stuff - proper late-night tackle that will caress and tingle your skin in all the right places. MA / 4 stars
