few labels could claim to share the creative purpose and pool of talent that cosmo records does. operating out of casablanca, morocco, the imprint has made its purpose clear, to fuse experimental house and techno with traditional african musicianship in a cultural dialogue that spans generations and continents in search of thrilling new musical forms. over the past five years, cosmo has called upon some of the finest producers in the most adventurous corners of 4/4 dance music to collaborate with players of the kora, guembri, lute and many more forms of percussion and melodic instrumentation. the chosen artists congregate at the cosmo recording studios in casablanca, which acts as a hub for these disparate musical energies to come together in a fusion of seasoned, learned performances and hyper-modern electronic processes. amongst the most notorious artists that have contributed to the label so far are masomenos, radiq, argenis brito and ricardo villalobos, while moroccan producer adil hiani provides a local focus to the electronic side of the creative process, as well as conducting the a&r for the label.

the founders of >pfand<, hali and yapacc, met each other in berlin and torontos nightclub circuit. they created the synonym >act natural< and debuted four tracks which describe the actual vibe and feel of berlins club culture. beside the purely minimal percussive tracks (pretty good & action - words), they created a vocal-based hymn, >berlin is killing me<, that perfectly expresses the mood after a long party weekend. for >revenge or insanity<, they invited julie marghilano to give the right punch in combination with a bumpy bassline that kicks you in your ass.

after countless collaborations with george in apparel music is consecrate time to this amazing artist with a vinyl. yapacc is a trademark sound that mixes techno and deep so masterful and unique. every breath of his soul shines in his works that transmit to us lot of emotions in one hit, an orchestra that in the song earth race reaches its peak, showing us new worlds, becoming glue wet, wrap around our ears. a magic stamped into the groove. rhythm to dakar is a flight for dancefloor. funky bass takes us back in time, but without losing the essential direction of the grooves fresh and spreadable. alejandro mosso to close delight us using a toll seamples. the culture changes, the rhythm as well, but not the pathos that yapacc has created for this release. alejandro breaks down and reassembled to create a whole new world, parallel but different from the original mix.

yapaccs new masterpiece goes epic and tells you an existentialist story about rigid contemplation and mass euphoria, providing dem glamorous drumrolls a comeback long overdue and keeping his shit most generally together while setting up enough traps to become entangled in karma of battlefield? comes in an elegic, postapocalyptic disguise just to surprise with siren chants and cutting edge chimes. its a groundbreaking piece of music, just as his sibling conga de terre? which loosens its high end percussions with a well dosed infusion of bittersweet symphony and proves that beefy barbarians have feelings too. in the heat of the battle yapacc lives up to the promise, thats why we love him, and thats why we release him too.

what can i do for you? its been a busy year for yapacc. released a handful of quality releases on wir, the green empire and lessizmore, remixed dole & kom, german pop-duo 2raumwohnung, co-produced three releases with good groove, the studio wizard is also working currently on his very first solo debut - coming out in march 2008 on neutonmusic. with >n!ce< yapacc returns to neutonmusic on where he has collaborated with fadila demirtas. ex-repeat repeat member, mark rutherford, shows his first solo work under his object object moniker. and proves easily why andrew weatherall calls himself a fan: this is dark, somehow trippy, much weirder (and faster) version of the original - which reminds us of submarine raves from back in the late 1950s... played by sven väth

berlin-based producer, yapacc take on the original sees him transferring the song into a dancefloor-ready track whilst subtly maintaining the ambience of the original. off-beat house-esque sub-rhythms and a melodic bassline helps to keep the energy of the track moving forward, whilst the top end guitars and vocals keep the listener interest up until the very last second. russian-based dave pads remix also helps the original move onto the dancefloor with this incredibly funky, groovy-laiden back beat which simultaneously manages to hold onto the original tracks esthetical ambience. euphoric house stabs and a continuous layered texture sits behind the tracks groove, adding a sense of nostalgia and depth to an already emotive original.
