alr001 is tech-house based track features one late-night club cut of pure, padded brilliance. the original mix is a meditative, as it blissfully sways between softly thumping bass and euphoric synth snippets. hamburg based well known dj cess (formally from also known from cocoon booking) re-edited the track for dj s with a male spoken monologue that, despite being a tad pretentious, actually kind of weirdly works. fittingly, its the most dance floor appropriate of the bunch and would slip nicely into a bleary-eyed, 6am sunrise set.

blind box series is a vinyl-only record label, focusing on deep, raw underground club music. label owners julien sandre and italian duo konstress team up to form blind box as a label, a brand and a means to spread the sound they have in common. first printing comes from the label heads, releasing two solid old school flavoured club cuts. english house master nail (robsoul, one records, bass culture) on remix duties, offering a double version remix of just me. keep an eye on a label with no hidden ambitions, where music and quality are the only priorities.

the peer pressure ep from the under-rated mark forshaw finds scenery records once again highlighting the rich strain of local production talent in the liverpool area. involved in the merseyside scene since the 90s, forshaw has released on labels like mathematics, tabernacle and apartment and is also a member of phantom planet outlaws with john heckle and binny. if you ve checked forshaw s prior output you will be happy with peer pressure as soon as the grubby, jacked up house of the title track hits its groove, with his four other cuts heading down a similarly unpredictable path. kudos to scenery for seeking out swedish producer daniel andreasson to remix the title track too! this is another no nonsense ep from scenery that is lovably rugged and unpredictably creative

‘psych , the long-awaited freaks album released in 2014 gets a re-release in 2015 with some brand new remixes. freaks, a musical partnership between luke solomon and justin harris that s spanned twenty years and includes the music for freaks label, four albums, and an avalanche of singles on the likes of playhouse and hot creations to crosstown rebels, news and international deejay gigolos. the album was released to rave reviews and featured a much awaited gathering of material from the late 00s onwards, including collaborations with robert owens, stella attar and diz washington. this 12- includes interpretations from dave aju, jamie 3:26 and freaks. for over a decade, san francisco innovator and a vital part of circus company, dave aju has been producing and performing his unique brand of electronic dance music, a consistently fresh and expressive sound. his remix of situations makes no exception, a strong piece of jacking house music with bubbling sub bass, strong raw percussive beats, and an effective use of diz vocals and the flute sound. on the b side misfits is reworked by chicago s master jamie 3:26 who turns the tune into an acid house monster and by freaks themselves who extend their original version for dance floor action. a strong package…and more to come !

the last time these gentlemen linked up was for their release what you see on leftroom limited in december of 2013. since then, circle (rob paine + keith landis) produced another ep for worship while rise 8 has been recording their full length album. the universe let these artistic minds & souls meet in the studio once again to create gone too deep. the original mix is a deep and moody house builder that is really brought to life through the haunting vocals of rise 8 s gerhardt koerner.

markant minimal to bass techhouse tracks

the original opens with a field recording intro followed shortly after by heavy bass shots and a pulsating kick drum. snare patterns and an underwater synth melody hit the speakers with an abstract touch, while halfway through the pace changes with a new bass coming in. an experimental and brave track, it reflects idriss djing style and his long sets, going into different mental spaces, a wavelike combination of beats and up&down rhythms. eduardo de la calle s trademark analog sounds fill his tribute remix with acid keyboards, rim shot grooves, industrial noises and metallic vibes, swinging with a rolling bass line and bringing the original percussions to the fore.

the title track is a monstrous cut designed to get floors sweaty. with its futuristic synth smears, blasts of white noise and slick rubbery beats it is impossible to ignore. full of atmosphere and some ghoulish voices, it s a fine affair from this italian master. the malandra jr remix is even more tense, with industrial machine sounds zipping and fizzing about in a progressive groove, whilst martin patino deconstructs the whole thing and re-builds it as a jazzy minimal affair with sick chords, smears of colourful light and plenty of charisma. lastly, eddy romero & frink go for a dark, dubby, stripped back number that will please the real heads out there.

iconic deep house label large music returns to the vinyl market with a limited repress of the classic kerri chandler release return 2 acid. first pressed in 2005, this was the 100th release on large and has been out of print for 10 years. the a side features kerri s powerhouse tribute to the glorious days of acid house laced with driving beats and an incessant 808 acid line. on the flip side kerri goes old-school, this time with an electro afrika bambaataa influenced jam entitled planet sonic. also included for this special reissue is the unreleased acapella of return 2 acid solidifying this as a true collectors item
