after taking a break for more than 6 months bukaddor & fishbeck return with 2 quality tracks. >camino< unites tight and loose aspects in an exciting modern way of club music. the track works on more than one level and incorporates silly little ghosts of sounds and massive basslines and last but not least: a lot of profound sound shaping. >physx< on the b-side is much more warped, moves in way of a snake, does is surreal dreamlike and still makes these brave cuts that throw you back into life. at times this track seems to be quite dadaistic and maybe this accounts for the most experimentell track they have ever released... but it would not bukaddor & fishbeack if this track did not have a atchy clubby side to it.

in fact, >in a hole<, the a-side of their latest 12 inch, is even more dream-steeped than its predecessors. relying on vintage (and in some cases, home made) gear, simon and tsai have constructed a song that is syrupy in pace. darkened tones mingle with floating percussion and vocals processed to nearly melancholic depths. >cant feel my knees< picks up the tempo, and feels slightly sunnier in comparison (>perhaps a result of practicing for the first time in a place with windows<, according to simon), with rippling keys that give way to an open, spacious sigh and an almost playful interlude of warmth and bass punctuations. the two have said theyre interested in the meeting point of house and noise, and thats particularly apparent on the two remixes that appear here. >in a hole dub< is slower, more bare-boned and ghostlier than the track from which its derived, while >cant feel my knees dub< is filled with white noise emissions and hissing electro shocks.

wild rumpus is bitches brew head honcho colleen cosmo murphy (cosmodelica / classic album sundays) and former captain beefheart axeman and jeff buckley collaborator gary lucas. with wild rumpus they bring together seemingly contradictory sounds such as disco, rock, surf music, blues, dub and country while enlisting some extraordinary talent along the way. his latest effort is the most indulgent wild rumpus song yet and is somewhat of a cross between ashra temple and giorgio moroder clocking in at an epic 12 minutes. the remix is courtesy of mudd and has balearic classic written all over it. the single also includes an instrumental version of >tikkety-boo< which is a preview to the vocal version with lambchops kurt wagner which will be featured on the album.

when we heard pompeya for the first time and were told they were from moscow, we were like: - what!? are you kidding? this is probably the first russian band singing in english with such a classy brit touch and male vocal being very strong and sophisticated at the same time. they jestingly describe their style as >melodramatic popular song< and >cheenese< is indeed a very dramatic piece with simple yet powerful composition and lyrics that really make big sense. the original is very well supported by a bunch of remixes each of which is unique on its own. an-2 & samos come with a warm, relaxed and funky instrumental version which is followed by a blockbuster mix from moscow disquo maestro leonid lipelis (an entirely perfect dance version of the original that could ever exist) and finally, for those few sirs and mesdames who are not yet aesthetically satisfied and who still find themselves seated while others jump and shout, here come d-pulse with their paranoid mix that gathers the thunderclouds to the full darkness and - at the end - lets the revival sunbeams break through.
