title track joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with scifi sweeps and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden. sideways completes the a side of the release and gets going right from the beginning. pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted synth hook lashes over the top with henning playing with the synths lfo to creative effect. dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909 beat. henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early berlin/detroit dub techno crossovers. mars attacks closes of the ep and does so in particularly fine fashion. a more broken beat affair this time from henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

elektra release of charlotte gainsbourgs third studio album titled irm. the title is derived from m.r.i, which reflects the medical procedure charlotte had to go through after suffering a head injury in a water skiing accident in 2007. the album is charlottes most personal to date, and is produced by acclaimed grammy nominated artist/multi-instrumentalist beck. what started as a brief recording session between charlotte gainsbourg and beck ended up to be the body of work that is irm. over the course of a year and a half of writing and recording together, becks role grew to encompass all aspects of the creative process. he worked seamlessly with charlotte co writing the lyrics and produced and mixed the recording. i.vy presents her third release on ther own label, chinese laundry. after the first two volumes, continuing the saga in vinyl on the label, also time she s proposing a release based on the acid sound, in fact, from here come the names of the three tracks of -vol. 3 -, sonically distinct from forms of sound in both the quality of the tone and in the structure, leading to a complete trip right in the underground scene. the a-side exposes two tracks both dictated by a bassline, a sequence of acid accompanied by a drum-machine percussion, the sounds derive from -machines- that have guided the analogue creative artist, exposing grit, intensity and quality defined the synth that has a continuous evolution throughout its duration, with a sound much richer in harmonics. the other side of the coin is the b-side, a product of the collaboration between i.vy & the 90 s peacefrog producer solid state, a true evolution from the first two tracks, while following the lodging acid, the b-side results more aggressive and determined, demonstrating a mindset based on a building techno, with a strong impact on the dancefloor.

lauer returns from mascats orbit to new york citys beats in space records with a new two-tracker, hands & feet / stigma. since 2012s mascat ring down, lauer ditched city life for a quiet village outside of frankfurt. lauer embraced the space for his young family and settled his creative headquarters in a quaint attic studio. the new environments and housemate, a slumbering infant son, inspired these two songs to breathe a delicate and patient air. recorded during the first summer of his new domesticity, both tracks swell with echoed piano riffs buoyed by lauers dependably precise programming.
