john talabot is a youngster from barcelona with a rather special way of approaching music. borrowing his schools name for his alias and the most diverse samples for his music, he produces expansive and iconoclastic housey tracks. his influences range from flamenco to northern soul, from african music to traditional asian songs and he s inspiration sources go from the profound and sensual house of moodyman and labels such as sound signature or kdj to disco music, chicago house, pop or techno, whatever he likes. sounds like a bass kick and a sampler, he says us in his myspace, no less. this young producer and tireless musical tracker has the ability not just to find the appropriate samples but also to conjugate them wisely. in a great exercise of sonic inventiveness, guitars, strings and keyboards are combined in his tracks with rhythms and vocals with african reminiscences, to give us his own vision of house music, original and personal, but yet very effective. cliche allergic, songs like naomi, korlee or afrika sound cosmic and tremendously emotional without losing sight of the dance floor (thats what we call fat beats). his tracks are organic, human, full of life, the kind of music that keeps not only your foot moving but also your heart tingling.

after the inclusion of crushed by actress on the most recent prime numbers ep, we return with three tracks from one of our favourite contemporary producers. ghosts have a heaven is a heavily stripped down, minimally constructed piece built on a heavyweight kick drum whilst given movement and accentuated by filtered synth washes and sub bass which change subtly throughout the track. side 2 is taken by two tracks from the actress debut full length release on his own werk discs. hazyville is a twisted piece of electro funk expertly compressed and crackling with static energy. superb locking & popping lace the track sounding something like the avant gardism of subway theme from the wild style o.s.t pushed confidently into 2009. ext up redit 124 provides a deep clipped jackin groove with a glitchy feel. the beats are worked & moulded along with fizzing synths and jerky keys to produce a quality hybrid of sounds with its own idiosyncratic style firmly in place.

following up on the release of society, here comes the embassy, on the asphalt dushess label. pure pop songs which are not without reminding of the best manchester years. also including a remix from francois eudes chanfrault.

with the bpm dropped and the delivery of such a deep, emotional slice of downtempo with all the right things in all the right places, you have to doff your hat to dannys production skills. still maintaining a deeper edge but given this package its more dance floor mix is the legend that is matrix! taking time apart from his right hand man futurebound, matrix unleashes a straight to the point, no holds barred awesome slice of futuristic dnb for 2009!

the second instalment of the aprÚs vinyl series sees australian producer touch sensitive (also a member of van she) kicking things off with >body stop<, an italo disco stomper thats been at home in the fc catalogue for quite some time. recently unearthed by london based producer toby tobias in a chart of >hidden gems< it seemed only natural to ask toby to remix body stop and the result sees toby putting more space in the track, pushing it further onto the dancefloor and keeping it playful all at once. on the flip we take the uk connection a little further with leeds based producer bonar bradberry floating into cosmic territory with >fought & won< whilst toby tobias turns in some glorious tour-bus-disco on >azul blue<, guitars and acid lines sitting comfortably side by side for the ride.

gothenburgs goeran dahlström follows up his rather excellent remix of maelstroms enter the cosmos with his first solo production since 2007s back2back / angel babe the tin man on bear funk. encapsulating a real sense of summer, this sun soaked epic should soundtrack everywhere from california to croatia this year. remix duties fall to the prolific deep space resident brendon moeller who, under his beat pharmacy guise, turns out a more dance floor friendly re rub of the original while full pupps man of the moment blackbelt andersen delivers a fantastic slice of scandobalearic to complete the package. also features on the pizzico records compilation for an old dope, new aesthetics

after a longer gap than intended, part two of the cage & aviary remix series lands with a bang. truck are an enigma of a band, only forming when the astral alignments deem it appropriate - the next is due in 2012. cage & aviary take the brilliant vocal into proto/acid house territory with a killer bassline ready to move any dancefloor. crude vocal cut ups add to the 80s remix feel, while guitar licks, god pads, and all manner of prophet warblings come and go in a patchwork of angled sounds. sinister strings cut through at the mid way point before the superb outro vocal takes you home. for the dub, ape into jam & leo zero put their heads together and push the track into more of a dancefloor place, employing arpeggiators to keep the cut and paste elements rolling along. leo is a man of many excellent edits, productions, and remixes - watch out for an exciting new vocal project coming from him soon

after a 2 and a half year wait i finally managed to knock out a new single. its actually only my 3rd solo single ever. im very happy with it but ive got mixed feelings trying to describe it. you spend a year working on a track and a lazy shop worker or journalist will lump you into the >cosmicbalearicspacewhatever< straightjacket in 2 seconds, i can at least resist to do the same… anyway, two are quite psychedelic and one is some kind of cover version of one of my favourite villalobos trax. as you can hear ive had loads of fun fooling around in the studio playing the bass, percussion, drums(badly) and synths(even worse…)…

after the resounding success of lunarjam001 the leeds based lunar cadets ticker & cristoidz return with some seriously out there, and rare as roast beef edits for your late night perusal. their first release flirted and got frisky with hott city, loveride and david byrne and put them through the lunar jam cosmic mixer. they have forsaken such formalities with this release though, and have unearthed four tracks from even deeper and darker corners of their collections, and given them a serious going over. already garnering much support from such balearic luminaries as prins thomas & moonboots as always, limited to initial press only polysleeve and photocopied inlay!
