Bob, der Vermieter, wurde in Rotterdam bekannt, nachdem er in Roy Dames’ legendärem Dokumentarfilm über das Hafencafé „Willems Kantine“ zu sehen war. Er war ein lautstarker und direkter Vermieter, der kleine Zimmer an Menschen aus der Umgebung vermietete. Bob war berühmt für seine typische Rotterdamer Art und die Art, wie er mit den Leuten sprach, ohne ein Blatt vor den Mund zu nehmen. Einer der berühmtesten Momente war, als Cowboy Jos ihn um fünf Euro bat. Bob antwortete wütend: „Fünf Euro? Auf die Nase!“ Dieser Satz wurde später zu einem bekannten Zitat in Rotterdam.
