Tobia Coffa has been one of AMAM's continuous players for over a year now, but something of an underdog hiding in the shadows - the type of producer who's much happier working in the studio than posing at a photo shoot! So far we've released a couple digital EPs, remixes and a track on our last compilation (on top of his work for Grey Area Recordings), but he hasn't had a vinyl release on AMAM until this point. But these four new tracks find Coffa positively hitting his stride, carving a distinct melodic sound, a highlight of our label's catalog so far, and so we present the Pain & Love EP on the timeless 12" format. "True Friends" kicks off the EP with a vociferous classic house swagger and synth elements that stab the empty space between the beats. Intermingled with the more synthetic sounds are aviary field recordings that add another dimension to the mix. Next up is the EP's title track, which is built upon an sly, alluring analog sounds that might make you think, just for a moment, that AMAM has gone nu-disco - until the trademark clattering house percussion enters the scene, accented by syncopated congas for a hint of saber latino.
