With “Ekaterinburg”, a showstopper in the DJ-sets of names like Ryan Crosson, Cesar Merveille and Bill Patrick, Terje Bakke brings out the funk by looking within. It is almost as if the track is just about to dissapear into itself, but the groove just keeps on trotting, until you realise that seven minutes has passed on as if they were two.

“Cotton Factory” is a perfect B-side (or perhaps AA-side?), acting as the big brother to the grimey, introspective A-side. The style is similar, but the effect on the ears is more pleasing and just as suited to melancholic mornings away from home as in a set by a DJ who love melodies and emotion in their tracks.

Daniel Bortz appears for a classy spin on the melodies Bakke composed, taking the originals atmosphere into a late-night club and a more Balearic take on the minimalism than the original. Once again Terje Bakke establishes himself as an act daring to make small diamonds instead of big pieces of coal. You would be mad to miss this.
