‘Narcissus’ is the most upfront cut of the two, with the sheer ferocity, energy and bassweight to shake a club down to its foundations. Eerie background pads add to a cold atmosphere, before a full-blown sensory assault is unleashed, driven by plunging basslines and huge mid-range synth incisions that cut back and forth to hypnotising effect. The rhythmically intense ‘Burning Spears’ on the flip is a percussive masterclass, with a relentless onslaught of clattering bongos, crashing cymbals and sweeping effects taking centre stage.
