From Medellin to the Uckermark and back again to question mark – here is another Comeme travelogue for your badass Baedeker. Not long ago Sano left his Colombian hometown to find himself in an old palace in Brandenburg, locked inside a dreamlike basement studio for two weeks with another seven from around the world. It has been there, as Sano told us, that a blood pact was sealed. And now indeed it is his >Chupa< (Suck it!) to be the already second record (after Alejandro Paz - Free) to emerge from that magnificent Comeme conclave held at a cottage outside of Berlin this summer.

Dancers across Europe already had the chance to hear some portions of it when Cómeme toured the continent and Great Britain shortly afterwards. In case you remember being twirled up by an amalgam of dark salsa, freestyle, disco and golden age latin house, by malicious claves and ostinato oddities – that was Sano. And if your favorite tracks from "Nickel Ride" (Cómeme 015) were "Quiero Bailar" or "Que Rico" - that was Sano too (and Manu). Now let´s listen to "Chupa" in Sano´s own words: "Disco Noche" This is a nightwalk in a dark city with lonely streets and nightpeople whistling and whispering. The tension is in the air. Pedrito Navaja might like to have this on his iPod. "Bad Boys" The truth is is that Donna Summer was alive when I recorded this re-makeup of her alltime street girls anthem. The Juno 106 was talking to me that monday morning. "En Negro" A dark piano descarga with some seventies hard salsa elements and Larry Levan on the drums. "Chupa!" This came after a freestyle jam with my girlfriend. She sucked my mic while I was touching her synth in the middle of a friday night. "La Siete" The first track recorded with the toys that I´ve been hunting with Lord Byron Maiden, a well known chemist and philantropist raised in the lands of Bello, a city not far from Medellín. Actually he rides the 707 here, and that is why the track is called that way.
