The MoreAboutMusic label launch the Secret Weapon Series for long lost gems and future classics, inspired by the sounds of early Chicago house, Sheffield Bleep and Detroit techno. Secret Weapon #1 comes from Deep Space Orchestra with the future deep house classic >Hold Me Back<, remixes come from disco don Cosmic Boogie and acid house scientists Paranoid London. Deep Space Orchestra deliver the goods with >Hold Me Back<, a stripped down, Nu-Groove, Mr Fingers inspired, deep house jam. A simple kick and cymbal pattern builds slowly into a layered percussive house groove, with a pulsating juno bass line. Organ stabs tease in and out of the track that build up to a hypnotic hook. The layered rhythms build, whilst a vocal stab teases in and out of the track, layering sounds and sonics, before dropping back onto an irresistible jacking house groove. The remixes are adding some fine flavors to this excellent debut release of MAM records.
