Accent is a brand new House & Techno project from well established British producers Craggz & Parallel with a large and illustrious back catalogue of d&b to their names. On the first release the duo deliver three cuts of rubbery, rhythm heavy house music. Notable DJ support from: Photek, Stacey Pullen, Marcus Worgull (Innervisions), Mumdance, Slam, Quentin Harris (Strictly Rhythm), Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), J.Phlip (Dirtybird), Chrissy Murderbot, Laurent Garnier + many more.
‘Reflection’ opens the new account with hugely physical kick drums and urgent, stabbed synth notes. That sense of urgency never wanes throughout, and in fact is only added to by dark and growling reece bass and some detached sounding female cries. ‘You & Me’ is an intense cut that combines skipping garage percussion with firmly rooted kick drums. All around those locked in place elements, though, are darting, squirming, brightly coloured synth lines and chopped up vocals that add a kinetic dynamism to the track that is impossible to ignore. ‘DX Jam’ is another mutant fusion of underground UK styles with taught synths, percolating FX and monstrous hits that will twist and turn dancefloors every which way but loose. Music as fulsome and fierce yet controlled and charismatic is a rare thing. It seems, then, that Accent already has a unique voice in the electronic world.
