Path Illumination is a bass heavy string work out with a spoken word from Professor Inc. himself, promoting the underground and what it stands for. The looped string pattern is locked in for the majority of the cut as Professor Inc.s voice cuts through the mix. The strings then open up into a sublime orchestral and piano melody that rains down of the thump of the bass and the snap of the hats and snares. Its France meets Detroit in the most elegant of rendezvous. The second track on the EP is a tribute to an underground legend on the early sample-sharing scene. VTM Beos Tribute is a stripped back house cut with a warm floating bass and snappy hats and snares. Its a rolling ride until the track breaks out with a glorious string melody and beautiful finale for what would be a great end of night track. Elements Combined is a true work of art in terms of engineering; multiple layered percussion elements bounce and dot around the aural planes, blanketing a chunky 4/4 beat and sub bass in a stereo sensuality. Influenced by the sounds of Basic Channel this isnt an imitation of the usual dub sounds, its something entirely new and original leaning more towards a house sound. Essence Dub starts where Elements Combined left off; sweeping pads, flanged drums and echoed vocals ping pong over an industrial beat. With its subtle intro its a great opener to a peak set for those who want to start of dark and nasty.
