Delivered here is Phillip Charles >Controlled Input< EP. A collection of Phillips music as orignal as it is danceable. While the tracks contain unifying elements, they each stand very clearly apart in their own sound. As we move towards 2011 reference points of Mathew Jonson, Carl Craig and Redshape spring to mind, but make no mistake... this release is in a sonic space all its own. A true gem for lovers of forward thinking techno and house.

The world of Phillip Charles has always been bright spot for us. In a scene where words like "musician" and "jazz" are thrown around with such reckless abandon....Phillip is the real deal. Once a member of Philly's Tigerhook Corporation, Phillip has also written, engineered, produced, played bass and remixed for the likes of hip hop heroes Souls of Mischief, dance music luminary King Britt, poet and songstress Ursurla Rucker, jazz legend Miles Davis and drum 'n bass innovators Dego and Marc Mac (of Reinforced Records) on their Tek 9 project. And all this outside of his individual contributions to underground dance music where he remains a full-time collaborator with King Britt and has begun a new partnership with John Creamer yielding a stripped down take on the tribal sound.

In late 2002, Hallucination Limited label head Three was seeking out music to launch the imprint, and was invited to Phil's studio for a listening session. The "Electric Dreamers" single on Shaboom Recordings and "Holy Sound" onOvum had previously sparked his curiosity, but over the course of several hours his ears were treated to such a diverse range of music that his interest was peaked. Tracks like the vocal deep house bliss of "Delilah - Delilah (Be Strong 4 Me)" (Yoshitoshi) and cuts from the ahead-of-it's-time jazz infected techno "Auraplex" LP (Shaboom) moved Three to return home with a CD of Phil's orignals. A CD that continually played for the next week and contained the tracks that would go on to launch Hallucination Limited.

Seminal Vessel - A fresh, 21st century house music instrumental. Like Francois Kevorkian dubbing out Vangelis, but with Miles Davis mixing the drinks. This is one of our favorites. Pure class.

2600 AD - Most likely candidate for the big rooms with its cold yet cinematic sound. Watch them dance… inwards.

Controlled Input - Tripped out ARP 2600 synths wash over a deep space soundscape, peaking into a funky tonal workout. When you think it's gone too far the arrangement steers back to Earth making this one inspiring journey of a track. Truly unique.

Does it all sound too good to be true? You decide. We feel this music just had to be heard.
