While in his band Fridge, Kieran also became a solo producer, releasing work under the name Four Tet, which soon became his mane concern. Five years is a fair gap between Four Tet albums, but this doesn’t mean the man has not been busy. Alongside collaboratations with musicians and composers such as Burial and David Arnold, he released four albums with drummer and jazz legend Steve Reid and produced many remixes for Radiohead, Hot Chip, Bloc Party, Sia, The Notwist, Kings of Convenience and Aphex Twin, just to mention a few. 2009 also saw him perform as Four Tet again at various UK and European festivals. November last year Hebden released a 12″ of Love Cry (backed with Our Bells), plus a 12″ with Love Cry remixes from Joy Orbison and Roska. It was clear then that it was time for a new album - the single sold-out within just a few days.
