For the next release on Echoism Recordings we have chosen to mix some of our favourite artists which we have worked with in the last few years and have influenced us greatly. Choosing a more underground and daring concept we ve asked electronica wizards Solvent & Jori Hulkkonen to produce their interpretation of Lydia Lunchs Master Alchemist. Lydia Lunch must be one of our favourite all time artists. An artist who defies every categorization through conquering new territories, and gaining international recognition for the innovative quality of her work.

Baptized as a confrontationalist, Lydia Lunch commenced at age 16 as primal screamer and guitar guerrilla for the seminal "no-wave" band Teenage Jesus and the Jerks (1976). Her debut album, entitled No New York and produced by Eno, remains as one of the most impressive — and extraordinarily bold — debuts of the time.
Hailed by the Boston Phoenix as "one of the 10 most influential performers of the 90's", no other artist of the 20th century has fought, forged, punched, and sculpted their own artistic vision in such a uniquely original way. Through music, books, spoken word performances, film, video, photography, poetry and a multitude of creative endeavours, Lydia Lunch has proven to be one of the most interesting and daring artists of the current era. With Echoism004 we have chosen two electronic artists with encyclopedentical understanding of electronic music and Lydia Lynch to interpret and produce the soundtrack for the hypnotick master alchemist.

Solvent has created his own unique version of electro-pop: too elegant and sincere for the electroclash set, too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honoured traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of IDM. Along with some notable remixes for Soft Cell, Alter Ego, and Adult., Solvent has also contributed standout tracks to several influential electronica compilations in recent years, including Putting The Morr Back In Morrissey (Morr Music), Disco Nouveau (Ghostly International), and Misery Loves Company (Ersatz Audio).

Jori Hulkkonen aka Zyntherius (born 1973) hails from the northern town of Kemi, Finland. Raised up around the arctic circle, below freezing point and under the influence of a cocktail of synthpop and early electro, house and techno handily available from the Swedish radio, Jori quickly developed a taste, and more importantly, a passion for electronic music. The man behind the smash hit Sunglasses at night is known for his outstanding remixing qualities and with an unlimited output of high class electronica its is an honour to have his contribution for this project.
