steevio delivers the second offering in the >modular techno< series of live improvised analogue recordings extracted from his practice sessions for the freerotation electronic music festival which he organises with partner suzybee. with vol 2 steevio takes his modular jams to the next level with more complex sequencing and refined harmonics in contrast to the deliberately raw vol 1. only basic editing to extract the individual tracks from the 1 hour live sessions was used, and there was no prior planning involved other than a choice of tempo and key. each session evolved from a totally blank canvass on steevios eurorack modular synth and moog voyager.

4th release by 12records, presenting the new deep88 >removing dust< ep (taken from the forthcoming >removing dust< album that will be released later on this year). main single is a2 >the vibe<, a classic 90s beat made over a real melody, where vocals parts crossover and match each others, in two differents peaks, to create a whole >vibe< flow from the start till the end of the song. a1 is a test signal experiment, where samples take a different level, a sort of meta sample, a sample into a sample� well, have a listen, its easier to understand that way. bside is 3 tracks long, not a common practice in todays ep releases. b1 >grancartridge<, a moodymann house style raw song, b2 is even more raw sampling style, meanwhile b3 is a dreamy vocal house tune more common to deep88s style. the result is a mature ep, that ntroduces the 2nd deep88 album, always on 12records, and that will bring him into that >serious< realm of making house that is seen in some elite today (funny isn�t it� at the end it is just about music and we all have ears� maybe)... btw less marketing on our head, this 12inch wont be a coloured or hand written limited release, just the good old classic black one (yes it sounds better folks) and no limited copies� when is close to finish we will repress as usual.

dope me / does caroline know? is a slightly clubbier affair-less sun ra and more soul capsule-but still possesses the air of strangeness that makes the duo so unique. each artist leaves his mark within the first few measure of dope me. the steady high-hats and flawless kick drum are straight out of dazes playbook, while the nervous piano and 3 chairs-style claps are unmistakably bruno. as for the slurred vocal pleading >dope me..dope me<, thats anyones guess. the track carries on for a solid nine minutes as half-melodies and quasi-hooks slide in and out of the mix. the b-side, does caroline know?, takes us deeper and darker. the drums are plodding, the mood is ominous, and a series of dreamlike flourishes add to an already eerie groove. like the a-side, its a surrealistic style of house that only these two could deliver. the artwork, as usual, is done by daze maxim.

this latest release from hizatron and bashley galvanises the usual wigflexian- gloop with a more industrial edge and a superb implementation of found sounds. a darker pallet underpins the record but this is inverted then lifted with inserts of scattered euphoria. whilst all that is synonymous with the current face of techno lurks consistently in the background throughout, in an almost redemptive fashion, we are hoisted upward from a chromatic descent and set forth onto a crisp, bouncy path peppered with light. the depth of stereo field is utilised perfectly here and the use of dimension is something of a staple for all of those who call wigflex home. hizatron is known for his seamless arrangements, catchy melodies and punchy percussion and this record has that unquestionable tron swagger but the familiar sound is accelerated by new influences from bashley who although a relatively unknown member of the family brings a fresh range of timbres that compliment hizas signature grooves.

blank code presents bcr002 - beta ep from the plant worker (also known as a. trebor), released on 12 inch vinyl with custom made silk screened jackets and available with an additional track found exclusively on the digital release. beta 01 represents merciless techno, with a pounding kick and unexpected drops that leave the listener gasping for breath. the luis flores remix introduces a subtle swing, making it more danceable than the original while still retaining the ominous tones imbued in the track by the plant worker. beta 02 stumbles in with anxious acid synths and urgent hi-hat patterns, slowly building to a massive climax. mysterious chimes wandering around the sonic space give a haunting feel to beta 03, the eery conclusion of the vinyl version of the release. the eps digital exclusive, beta 04, returns the listener to the original themes of beta 01 � open, reverberating bass accented by the sounds of echoing metallic decay.
