blaq numbers welcomes explorer of the humankind back to the stable with his latest work, -where did y’all go?-. combining lots of handmade drums & machines with hazy synths, he explored a new set of influences while writing and recording from 2018-2019. the four original compositions now find themselves on a brand new 12” backed by remixes from detroit’s byron the aquarius and larry houl. -where did y’all go?- expands on eoth s previously established house sound and brings in elements of bedroom pop, with lyrical content exploring the modern conundrum of maintaining relationships in the age of social media. not much is known about the lyon native, but his music has built him a keen worldwide following since his debut productions surfaced in 2017.

mangled records twentieth release also marks 20 years since its first release. to celebrate the occasion here are two of ray mangs better known and loved tracks together on one 180gram mangled 12inch for you! number one first surfaced on his solo debut 96 noid release. it gained widespread support in the clubs and went on to be featured on both dfps de-luxe house of funk and groove armadas back to mine compilations as well as his own mangled lp. look into my eyes is a blissed out balearic gem that featured on the b side of rays 10 dfa release and instantly became a firm favourite for many.

two dark, adventurous and intense mid tempo mind benders by the mysterious producer k100 signal. 300 copies then gone. tip! the signal was lost along ago. a slowtard rhythm surfaced. as you get deeper into alignment you discover the deconstructed beats from another decay. k100 signal is an elusive project produced in the pitch black code of indulgence.

with the celebrated return of dr. octagon (dan the automator, kool keith and dj qbert) in 2017 including their first-ever live performances fans are sure to keep gobbling up the space weirdness that first surfaced more than 20 years ago. get on down presents a unique picture disc, featuring the original octagon album artwork by the legendary artist pushead. the infamous doctor’s head and lower torso reach above and below the actual 45 rpm playing surface, as if trying to escape their two-dimensional status. on the a-side is a brand-new dr. octagon song, “octagon octagon,” which picks up where the original energy left off. it’s a dark and grooving glimpse into keith’s rubberband mind, jumping abstractly from line to line, chock full of equal partscharisma and dementia. on the flip is the song for which the group is most well-known, “blue flowers.” the version presented here is the amazing “prince paul’s so beautiful” remix, which first appeared on a mo wax 12” in the uk in late 1996. it was the first meeting of the two great production minds from different eras – dan the automator and prince paul would go on to collaborate many more times over the next decade, most notably as the group handsome boy modeling school. this is another great trophy for any self-respecting kool keith and dan the automator fan, combining the old and the new in triumphant fashion.

its not often you stumble upon a 9 piece soul band, who were so close to signing a deal with mca’s new subsidiary source records. but group politics and other factors got in the way, and the band shelved what music they had recorded. no reels surfaced but fortunately a member had kept some of those 1978 recordings. between the two seemed to fuse great soul compositions without the durge of the disco era circa 1978. with well thought out lyrics, backed by keys, trumpets and a driving bassline we really are pleased to add the group to the super disco edit roster.

the was/is crew have proven themselves to be dab hands at burrowing away at the hidden folds of the 90s electro scene and finding some truly unsung heroes worth of a reissue. following on from excellent work supporting the likes of archetype, the us label can now be found shining a spotlight on the work of can oral under the 4e moniker. originally appearing on labels such as force inc and mille plateaux, 4e s sound was quintessentially mid-90s, but only surfaced over a short period of time between 1994 and 1998. this record originally came out on sockett in 1996, and it s been sought after as avid diggers pull out every thread of dope, adventurous electro they can find. discogs pirates laugh no more, because now this essential record is back in the hands of the real music fans!

samuel van dijk is an electronic music producer, sound designer and media artist from the netherlands releasing deep electronic music as vc-118a, mohlao, and multicast dynamics. drawing inspiration from technology, nature, film, and fiction, his productions and live sets embody a dynamic musical framework. since the dutchman surfaced as mohlao for labels like meanwhile, field and other heights at the turn of the decade, van dijk?s music has found a firm position, the ethereal electro vc-118a project, deep ambient techno as mohlao, and subterranean ambient as multicast dynamics.

strut present a brand new 12” reissue of shina williams monster nigerian disco anthem “agb’oju l’ogun”, pairing the rare original album version (originally released on phonodisk nigeria) with the more sparse 12” remix which surfaced later internationally on earthworks. this is the third release on strut’s new original masters series.

experienced dutch producer tom ruijg rightly won praise for his first 12inch as tracey, skyfall, which surfaced on voyage direct in early 2017. combining elements seemingly inspired by vintage detroit futurism, ‘90s ambient techno and his own love of colourful synthesizer melodies, the ep saw tracey set out his stall in impressive fashion.

with jungle, grime (forthcoming), 90s rnb (forthcoming) and even red snapper’s ‘96 classic prince blimey all getting the skrs redux recently, runcometest ep is a time-capsule. 8-bit basslines echo from distant battles with space invaders while sure-footed dub samples glare at sound system history through vaseline smeared lenses. returning to more grounded dubwise sensibilities (by their standards), runcometest builds a bridge between the collective’s 2014 nocorner cassette (rootprinciple) and the recently re-surfaced sci-fi/western clash dancehallshowdown (self-released on ics library recordings last year).

gnork and luv*jam have worked closely together for many years now. the blorp93 yellow vinyl surfaced in 2013 and was championed by the likes of rvds, bradley zero, dvs1 and wolf music !! since this time, there have been a few secret cuts nipping about here n there! some of which many folk were ‘demanding’ they were pressed! those very secret blorpers are here on one precise 12”, with ‘sexxx in space’ the biggie from gnork’s lost in budapest mixtape! luv*jam adds a few sexxxy dream nips for those dj’s who like to add another dimension… by the power of a moonbeam!

a selection of forgotten demos by band hymn, active 1981-1984, with multi-talented musician and post-punk pioneer lucas trouble (†2016) in the lineup. dition of 400 numbered copies. hand stamped sleeve. includes insert with photos, artwork and liner notes. all the tracks were originally self-released as demo tapes in a very limited run. their first work, coming home, was published in 1983, and the second one, too many lies, in 1984. both of them were distributed by the band themselves. shortly after, they released a more widely known 12” ep, tired (nova express, 1984), with a different line-up and noticeably more rock-oriented. definers of a totally genuine sound, hymn were coevals to the underground-synth-post-punk movement that surfaced in france in the early eighties, easily recognisable today via cult labels such as bain total and invisible/scopa records, with stunning releases by experimental references like ilitch, philippe doray or incontinents.

having originally surfaced on dj deep s deeply rooted house label back in 2011, the appropriately named bleak brings his stern ekko track back into focus on his own naura label, inviting two titans of contemporary techno to do the remix business on the track. first up is skudge, who get things marching at an urgent pace with their usual knack for ear snagging sonic hooks and unrelenting kick drums. meanwhile markus suckut makes a more weighty interpretation of the track, slowing the tempo and adding all kinds of sub pressure to make for a truly killer workout. as a bonus, the original track is present on the b-side in all its mean-tempered glory.

darand land finally follows up on his heaven electric ep that first surfaced through pulp in late 2014. this time around, the package contains another 3 original cut + a super breezy remix by scotsman linkwood.

soul brother records are delighted to release for record store day 2017 one of the most elusive soul lp’s of all time, a truly holy grail album. susan phillips ‘soft sexy soul’ was recorded for sylvia robinson’s all platinum label 1971, pressed in small quantities. few copies have ever surfaced, it is so rare that many collectors doubt if it was ever released, it is not listed on discogs and it has never been recorded as selling on ebay. if an original copy were found today, it would surely sell for a substantial amount of money. the album has that classic early 70’s new jersey orchestrated soul sound. the album contains the in demand 2-step single ‘he knows my key (is always in the mailbox)’, the northern soul floater ‘answer to my prayer’, detroit sounding ‘please don’t keep me lonely’ the multi paced ‘where do i go from here’ and many great ballads like ‘he’s gone’ and ‘this i’ll guarantee’. demand from soul collectors is expected to be high and this album is likely to sell out quickly in the same way that last years ‘this is eleanore mills’ (also from all platinum) and all the previous soul brother records rsd releases have.

off the back of their first ep release, super fun bumper editions trends, which received support from the likes of xl8r, thump, future classic, and bradley zero, beats of no nation is now gearing up for its second release by the chord memory band. chord memory band is a recent collaboration between michael medlycott (from the band vulture street tape gang) and dom bird (bonn co-founder and member of the live disco 4 piece mitzi). at the end of 2016, michael and dom caught wind of a cave, nestled beneath a sacred mountain, deep in the australian outback. the rumours described a cave filled with nocturnal animals and ancient flora, but more importantly, a stash of vintage synthesizers and drum machines. guided by whispers and caught up in the mystic mystery of it all, the duo set off with a dusty four-track tape recorder in an attempt to capture these mythical cave vibes and place them on a record. michael and dom surfaced several months later, with four recordings and no memory of what had occurred. these recordings became their synergistic third eye ep – an analogue journey into the spiritual world, with one simple message, the answer is inside.

having originally surfaced on creme organization back in 2002, luke eargoggle and ronnie johansson s monkeyshop project is an intermittent treat that offers the best of warm synth-led electronic disco. on their second outing for ali renault s vivod label (after the excellent escape from the mental zoo ep in 2014) the pair bring yet more of that addictive, utopian dance magic on this new record. -island of love- is indeed a romantic club burner with smatterings of vintage synth pop in its bones, while -heartbreak- takes a more overtly italo direction and sounds just as strong with it. obergman then takes -island of love- to task with a respectful remix that shines a few different synth lines and beat patterns through the same fuzzy prism.

not too long ago a jiffy bag arrived at parkwest hq. in it was a scratched tdk case with a sa-x tape containing a musical message from years past, simply marked the tape i lost! we sat and listened, able to pinpoint influence and reference but yet hearing something totally new. that this tape surfaced and made it across the years and the miles to us was fortunate. when the synth part came through clear on a later version on the tape, allowing us to remix then it became destiny. emotion, melody and rhythm will always be timeless and these tracks, selected from that tape, are as relevant today as they ever were.

a colourful storm inaugurates its vinyl label with a reissue of a long lost oz classic. formed by brian hall in 1982, denial originally appeared on the legendary m squared label, home to industrial and wave outfits systematics, spk, scattered order and the makers of the dead travel fast. until now, hall s own work has only surfaced once - in 2012, under his aural indifference moniker on the minimal wave tapes volume two compilation. here, denial s version of the mamas and papas classic, and melancholy the weatherman are presented in their original format and deservedly remastered. a colourful storm is a label co-run by moopie, who contributed the second mix cd for silent servant s jealous god imprint.

swedish artist farbror resande mac debuts on mystic & quantum with the six track album yttre rymden, having first surfaced earlier this year with a fine outing on is it balearic? if you are familiar with mystic & quantum, you know the label deals in lovingly presented releases of a musically conceptual nature, and yttre rymden retains that status quo. a typically cryptic introduction from the label states the following: yttre rymden is a travel by boat leading to adventures around the world. yttre rymden might mean outer space but what defines outer space sometimes depend on which way you look at things. this story looks at the outside world from within and utilizes travels and adventures as a way to explore the world as outer space.

spike wolters quartet of self released lps which surfaced between 1981 - 84 have become the stuff of legend. an avant garde collection of solo tracks, combining guitar, drum machines, synths & vocals into spacious, fx laden compositions which stand firmly outside of the era in which they were created. its a lo-fi, but broad selection, taking in experimental pieces, alongside taut post-punk workouts, and more laidback steely dan moments. the sixteen cuts on orange cloud nine have been lovingly compiled from those four early 80s lps by golf channels phil south. its a limited single vinyl package, with custom artwork from perks & minis misha & individual download code.
