reworked data vol. 1 features bodycode applying the house and techno sensibility of his recent immune album for spectral sound to tejadas production, followed by labelmate broker/dealers sophisticated melding of the source materials nearly fifteen-year-old anvil vapre-era sense of melancholy to an insistent 4/4 rhythm. traum schallplattens dominik eulberg continues his tradition of developing elaborate, drawn-out explorations of the ebb and flow of techno dynamics by adapting the asymmetrical idm sounds of tejadas source into a persistently propulsive techno narrative. finally, ninja tune and plug researchs daedelus applies the accessible synthpop template of last years love to make music to to tejadas melodies — almost crafting another >fair weather friends< in the process.

the tracks on this new 12 inch build on the momenetum, with two tracks of stripped down dancefloor killers - >yeah!< is a monster builder, all todd edwards style swing and tight edits with crazy deep kicks, chopped up vocals, old school piano stabs, soaring strings, and hands in the air breakdowns. already being played out by drop the lime (check his latest exclusive mix for fact magazine where he opens his set with >yeah!<). >head work< on the b side is on more of a masters at work/harddrive era tip - deep garage beats tripping over themselves, burbling oddity synths, shuffling snares and the weirdest vocal melody breakdown/build-up ever!
the originals are complimented on the 12 inch by two remixes - tvo takes yeah! to another dimension altogther with a head destroying 140bpm hardcore junglist remix. on the flip, san franciscos eats tapes take >head work< into the wonkiest area of minimalist techno, showcasing their totally unique take on future groove.

now techno has its own fair trade. basmati, the new label by gabriel ananda (artist direction) and marcel janovsky (management), does not indulge in pretentious bragging. in fact, its not even supposed to have a release sheet like this one. but sometimes, youre even too modest to stay away. so, whats it all about? well, the music, of course. and only the music. organic stuff, so to speak. tracks made by pure immersion. no plans, no blueprints. just going with the flow, unleashing the inner krautrock while staying true to the basics of techno. gabriel and friends at their best. inhale

yep, thats right. synth pop sensations heartbreak remixed by the horrors. tom furse from the horrors has a fearsome collection of analogue synths and used them to rebuild this track from heartbreaks debut album from the ground up, and a killer job hes done too. as ali and sebastian from heartbreak both release on dissident their label lex thought it would be a good idea if dissident did the 12 inch release. obviously due to the nature of this release and the addition of the combined horrors / heartbreak fanbase its pretty much an instant collectors item and will fly out of the door at a fair old rate of knots so please make sure you order enough to keep everyone happy, i doubt well have any of these left by the end of the week. the clip is taken from the second half of the track as it turns into a glorious cosmic synthesizer orgy, theres plenty of arpeggiated trackiness before it gets to this bit

the latest gigolo release is one for the summer! aptly titled hot it comes courtesy of ivano coppola and christian prommer, the former being one of italia s most respected dj s and the latter being, amongst other things, one of the main collaborators for hells critically acclaimed album teufelswerk. taking a sample from willie ninjas classic record hot and building a track around the chords and the vocal leads us to our starting point ivano coppola plastic mix!
ivano coppola has been the resident dj at milan s plastic club since 1992, so it is fair to say that he knows what works on a dance floor, or, to use a popular phrase, what is hot and what is not. it is with this historical knowledge that we find the genesis of our track. i found it necessary to go back in the past, to start producing once again in a 90 style - using samples. the next step was to come back into the future and reach out to christian prommer, highly respected by many including ivan i consider (christian prommer) one of the best producers of the moment! he loved the idea, the remix was huge, and so we decided to co-produce the record. simple!!!
but, for christian this was more then a remix, hence the co-production credit! i liked the idea of translating an early 90 s house-music-sample in to a sample-style-percussive-techno-tune. lots of live played drums and percussion in this one, of course. i only later learned that the sample we used is from one of my house music heroes, maws louie vega. naturally the record found its way into the hands of gigolo in the best way possible, and in the tradition of such a great record label – i played it at the gigolo night in munich and hell came to me dancing and took the tune into his heart.

itÆs been a couple of years since victim last released a full 12, but just like the buses you wait that long and then two come along at once. for victim, the >off piste< 12 follows hot on the heels of their split 12 with jerome hill & dont recordings. in the case of ben pest, they are coming thick and fast at the moment, with a recent release on lukes angers bonus round label, and an upcoming 12 on the seriously deranged panic bridge label. so, all in all a busy few months. as for the tracks, they all share in common a seriously weighty bottom end, and a tendency for crunchy acidic midsàbut that is kinda where the similarities end, as ben takes the opportunity to explore various avenues off the main street of techno. from the stomping acid workout of >zeedonk< to the more electro-influenced beats of >pain n gain< this is a record that covers a fair few bases (basses?), although all with the aim of thrilling a crowd that enjoys their techno on the gnarly side.
